There’s an easy narrative forming around the rise in power of sale listings in the GTA:
“People renewed at higher interest rates and couldn’t keep up.”
Higher rates matter, but that’s not the whole story.

@TDotResident Ford, taking an opportunity to enrich his friends, and not the province. It is a classic example of Disaster Capitalism (Naomi Klein), exploiting a situation during a time of crisis, similar tactics employed by Trump himself. Ford is not a statesman or qualified for his position.
@danielfoch@CDHoweInstitute Like it or not, realtors have contributed and fuelled the market frenzy of where we are today. Now they are acting like community activists and pundits in a slowing market.
In the U.S. we talk about creating "3rd Places" where people can hang out outside of work or home. Unfortunately, most of these places are private and involve buying over priced food.

@danielfoch What no one talks enough about is today’s average SQF of dwelling space per occupant in comparison to 50-75 years ago. There is a a lot of wasted and open space by today’s standards.
@alexbozikovic Let me translate Mr. Dilken’s statement.
Apartments are a threat to the property values of low density owners. Allowing them would create black lash and would hinder his reelection prospect. Not to mention provide credit to a non PC governing party.
