Dopamine from information gathering is a dangerous drug.
It’s the dopamine you get from reading. From planning. From learning. But never doing.
Information gathering as sport. Jammed into neat little dopamine feedback loops that convince you that you're doing something productive and valuable.
You're just one piece of information away from the big breakthrough. You'll start when your business plan is perfected. You'll meet your partner when you've scrolled through another round of profiles. You'll get that dream job when you have one more degree in hand.
Your entire life will change when you realize the world isn't run by a bunch of geniuses. The world is being run by a bunch of normal people with abnormal bias for action.
The answer you seek is hidden in the action you avoid.
Dopamine from information gathering is a dangerous drug.
Get your dopamine from action.
"WE WILL NO LONGER SUPPORT LONG ESSAYS. IF YOU ARE AN ENGINEERING STUDENT, FOR YOUR THESIS, YOU MUST MANUFACTURE, COPY, OR BUILD SOMETHING;"
~ PRESIDENT of Burkina Faso IBRAHIM TRAORE tells students
This is Galilean relativity from 1632. (yes, Fine it’s a retroactive name, but at the time they just called it “relativity. ) It just means there is no master speedometer for the universe. The drone is moving at 0 mph relative to your dashboard, and 60 mph relative to the street. Both perspectives are correct. It’s also common sense.
I fell in love with this scripture:
“There will come a time when your tears will fall, not because of your troubles, but because God has answered your prayers.”

Mark Cuban explains how he pulled off one of Wall Street’s greatest trades
“When Yahoo offered us $5.7B in stock, I couldn’t sell it for six months”
“So what I did was I took every penny that I had and shorted the internet index as protection, basically taking insurance out in case the internet bubble popped”
“When I was allowed to sell it, because I couldn’t sell it all at once, it would just crater the market, so I did something called a hedge”
“What the hedge is, you can sell options. So I sold call options, which gave somebody else the right to buy my shares at a higher price in the future”
“I took that money and used it to buy puts, which protected me in case the price of my stock went down”
“When it popped, I actually made more money. It was called one of the top 10 trades in Wall Street history”
