Yaşasın Erzincanspor, var ol can Erzincan! ❤️🖤
The strongest bridge a person can build is the one that connects them to the land where they were born. No matter where life takes you, you carry your hometown within you. Whatever I do in life, the dreams I had as a child and the values of this land have been my compass. Today, we are here so that the children of Erzincan can dream bigger and look to the future with hope. I have put my name to many things in my life, but none has meant more to me than the one I signed today, on the land where I was born, for the children of Erzincan. To stand with this city and share in the smiles of its children is my greatest joy. I would like to thank our Governor, our Members of Parliament, our Mayor, our Deputy Minister, the President of Erzincanspor, and all my fellow citizens of Erzincan for the great interest they have shown. Long live Erzincanspor, long live dear Erzincan! ❤️🖤

Here’s why scientists say activating happiness in the brain has nothing to do with money, fame, or luck.
Neuroscience shows that happiness is driven less by external rewards and more by internal processes. The brain’s well being circuits are activated through behaviors that create meaning, connection, and a sense of progress, not status or possessions.
One key factor is engagement. When the brain is fully involved in an activity that feels purposeful, dopamine is released in a balanced way. This kind of dopamine supports satisfaction rather than short lived excitement.
Social connection also plays a major role. Acts of kindness, shared experiences, and feeling understood activate oxytocin and serotonin, chemicals tied to lasting emotional stability rather than temporary pleasure.
Another driver is agency. The brain responds positively when you feel in control of your choices and actions. Small wins, learning, and self directed goals strengthen neural pathways associated with confidence and contentment.
The takeaway is simple. Happiness is not found by chasing outcomes. It is built by practicing habits that consistently activate the brain’s natural well being systems, regardless of circumstances.

It’s go time! Check out the @NorthwesternU press release (https://t.co/GSrRC3zi4G) that announces a set of ‘launch projects’ supported by our brand-new, endowed institute – the Querrey-Simpson Institute for Translational Engineering for Advanced Medical Devices (QSI-TEAMS) (See https://t.co/4W8FEjU57x). Engineering science with a translational, medical orientation! From devices to address specific unmet needs in nephrology with Dr. Lorenzo Gallon, to those in otolaryngology with Dr. Bonnie Martin-Harris, Dr. Aaron Johnson and Ms. Theresa Brancaccio, in neonatology with Dr. @CarolynFosterMD and others at @LurieChildrens, in dermatology with Dr. Amy Paller and in pulmonology with Dr. @AnkitBharatMD – and several others that will come next, including some that focus on temporary (i.e. transient, or bioresorbable) and permanent implantable systems. See the release for details! An amazing opportunity to take clinical collaborations based on advanced technology platforms from our labs to the next level – translationally oriented, targeted to patient needs, aligned with clinical workflows, optimized for cost-effective care and configured to allow for global development! Eager to get started with Dr. Jessica Walter as Director of Clinical Research and Dr. @aTonyBanks as Director of Engineering! Thanks again to Kimberly Querrey and Louis Simpson for their tremendous trust in us to do something big -- something of societal benefit, something of scientific/engineering impact and something of broad educational value! In Kimberly’s own words -- “I am truly thrilled to witness the launch of these transformative QSI-TEAMS initiatives. They mark a bold step forward in redefining the landscape of biomedical engineering and unlocking innovations that will shape the future of human health. The launch of QSI-TEAMS represents a remarkable moment in our shared pursuit of scientific excellence. These transportive projects have the power to reshape the biomedical engineering landscape and accelerate breakthroughs that improve lives worldwide.”
It was our pleasure to host world renown scientist Prof. @ProfJohnARogers in our online Future Innovation talk today. It was a truly inspiring to see the the devices have already been translated into healthcare and started to make impact on healtcare system throughout the world🙌🏼
Pleased to deliver two invited talks today, both virtual mode – the first one, in the morning, was part of the Future Innovation Talk Series hosted at the Brno University of Technology and Central European Institute of Technology of the Czech Republic, organized by Dr. @fmyurtsever and Prof. @MartinPumera . I spoke about innovation and translation in the areas of epidermal electronic and microfluidic systems, with an emphasis on applications in healthcare, industrial safety and sports. As next-generation technologies with translation potential, I featured our platforms for (1) quantitatively monitoring the flux of gaseous species from the surface of the skin, with specific emphasis on tracking of wound healing cascades, and for (2) providing temporary pacing functionality, in the form of the world’s smallest pacemakers for use during recovery from a cardiac surgery. I very much enjoyed the interactions and the question/answer session after the presentation. Thanks again to Dr. Yurtsever and Prof. Pumera for the invitation!
The second talk was also remote, but delivered locally to a broad audience here at @NorthwesternU across our various schools, from engineering to medicine and others. This presentation was part of the Northwestern University Clinical and Translational Sciences (NUCATS) Institute @NUCATSInstitute and INVO Innovation + New Ventures Translational Research Office Hours (NITRO) – a new forum designed to expose our community to our resources for entrepreneurship and translational science. For this talk, I focused on two of our startups, @Sibel_Health and @epicorebio, and on our newly endowed institute: the Querrey-Simpson Institute for Translational Engineering for Medical Systems (QSI-TEAMS). We have a very vibrant and growing community of researchers interested in moving research from their labs into the real world – happy to share learnings from our experiences. Thanks to Dr. Lindsay Stolzenburg, PhD of INVO for organizing and for inviting me to participate!
