@ryanburge For context, thinking of this quote by missiologist Stefan Paas: "people who decide to join a church later in their life are almost always people who draw from childhood experience. This appears to be the case even when these people went to church on a very irregular basis."
@albertmohler Why not "winks" or even outright handshakes with the Right? The greater threat to evangelicalism is not slight nods toward progressivism but lying in bed with right-wing extremism
@MelissaMayBorja found you via the Centering podcast. Can you point me to a good resource on the history of Filipino Protestantism in America? Lots on Catholicism but can't find anything on Protestantism. Thanks!
@StefanPaas love your analysis of 1 Peter 2 in Pilgrims and Priests - wondering if there is a good commentary/resource using the minority/people on the margins lens for interpreting the whole book (or at least chs.2-3 on social, civic, and private life)? Most seem to miss this
@KyleJamesHoward@johnnarae your response shows you aren't really believing the best in people. You've kind of already cancelled them by publicly expressing your lament over them and their church. The investigation was led by Thabiti of the Crete collective. This is where more context is helpful
@KyleJamesHoward A little presumptuous to think one individual as an outsider has the authority to do a proper investigation, don't you think? I would hope Grace and peace (according to your pinned tweet) speak louder than cancel culture in these situations
@ThabitiAnyabwil Do you have an itemized list of 5 categories and what "earns" the deduction of a Thabiti? 😆 So Dr. Strange 2 was perfect huh?! We just rated it on our @thanostotheos pod and gave it a 3.5/6....
@HootenWilson I think it's important to check your cultural bias you bring to the table when evaluating and critiquing themes from other cultures before speaking as if you are an authority on the matter. This completely misses the point of the Asian cultural themes brought out in the film
If you're looking for a REALLY great, nuanced discussion of #TurningRed, listen to this podcast from @drmichellereyes @tashajunb and @MaryCarver. One good way to react against the reductive takes are to support and share the ones willing to do the hard work!
