당신이 AI비지니스를 시작하기 좋은 영역은 ChatGPT 가 잘 대답하지 못하는 영역이라는 이야기를 제가 이런저런 자리에서 자주 이야기 하곤 하는데요. ChatGPT 가 잘하지 못하는 영역은 무엇일까요? 두가지 영역입니다. 첫째, ChatGPT 가 학습과정에서 전혀 보지 못한 데이터 영역, 그리고 두번째 ChatGPT 가 검색으로 끌어오는 데이터에 존재하지 않는 영역 (혹은 가져오더라도 매우 낮은 품질인 영역) 일겁니다.

저한테는 스킨케어 영역이 딱 이런 영역이라고 느꼈습니다. ChatGPT 가 제대로 답하지 못하는 영역이요. 올영이나 쿠팡에서 파는 수많은 스킨케어 제품에 대한 정보도 제대로 가지고 있지 않고, 내가 지금 겪고 있는 문제에 딱 맞는 유효성분들을 가지고 있는 제품들이 도대체 어떤 것들인지, 그 성분들은 돈값만큼 충분히 함유되어 있는지, 아니면 그냥 쥐꼬리만큼 컨셉성분으로 집어넣고 과장광고하는 제품인지를 알고 싶었습니다.

"뷰티고민? DAPHERA가 답해라!" 대략 이런 컨셉입니다. (DAPHERA 라고 쓰고 다풰라~ 라고 읽습니다.)

DAPHERA 는 K-Beauty 스킨케어 제품들에 대한 전성분 데이터를 가지고 내가 원하는 성분이 듬뿍 들어 있는 제품인지, 인체에 위험한 성분은 아닌지, 환경에 위해가 되는 성분이 없는 Clean Beauty 제품인지 명확하게 알려줍니다. 극소량 밖에 안들어 있는데, 해당 성분을 과장해서 광고하는 소위 마케팅용 제품인지 아닌지도 전성분기반으로 ���측한 함량치를 알려준답니다. 의심많은 엔지니어가 ���어볼만한 것들을 다 처리하도록 만들어 봤어요.

"여름이라서 아무것도 바르기 싫은데 에어콘 밑에 있으니 피부 쫙쫙 갈라져.. 어떻하냐"

"골프치러 나가는데 제일 안끈적거리는 썬크림 좀 골라줘바."

🚀 We just open-sourced the Mejurix Medical-Legal Embedder — designed for the real-world needs of North American healthcare litigation and insurance.

Until now, legal-medical AI teams had to rely on domain-specific models like BioClinicalBERT or LegalBERT, or general-purpose embeddings like OpenAI’s text-embedding-ada-002. But these models lack true understanding across both domains — which is critical in personal injury cases, where medical findings and legal implications go hand in hand.

Our fine-tuned model bridges this gap, delivering high-precision embeddings across 10+ medical-legal relationship types (e.g., severity–compensation, symptom–disease, outcome–settlement). It outperforms baseline models in cross-domain similarity and is optimized for QnA, summarization, and similarity search in legal-medical workflows.

병원 진료실 문이 닫히고, 환자가 조심스레 입을 여는 순간이 있다. "선생님, 인터넷에서 찾아보니..." 라는 말로 시작되는 질문들. 처음에는 그 말이 귓가를 스칠 때마다 미세한 불편함이 느껴졌다. 수년간의 의학 공부와 임상 경험이 인터넷 검색 몇 번으로 대체되는 듯한 착각이 들었기 때문일까.

하지만 시간이 흐르고 나도 나이가 들면서, 그런 질문들이 단순한 도전이 아니라 불안과 혼란 속에서 건네는 구원의 손길임을 깨닫게 되었다. 아픔은 고독하다. 자신의 몸에 일어나는 변화를 이해하고 싶은 마음, 그 불안감을 덜어내고 싶은 간절함이 인터넷 검색창으로 향하게 만든다.

이제 나는 그 말을 들을 때마다 환자의 눈을 더 깊이 들여다본다. 그 눈에는 정답을 찾아 헤매는 지친 영혼이 담겨 있다. 내가 해야 할 일은 단순히 의학적 지식을 전달하는 것이 아니라, 디지털 미로에서 ���을 잃은 그들에게 나침반을 건네는 일이다.

때로는 풍부한 정보 속에서 오히려 더 큰 혼란에 빠진 환자들을 만난다. 누구나 쉽게 접근할 수 있는 정보의 바다에서, 정확한 지식과 현혹하는 거짓 사이의 경계는 너무나 희미하다. 그것이 내 직업의 또 다른 소명이 된 이유다. 환자들에게 단순히 약을 처방하는 것을 넘어, 오해와 불안의 실타래를 함께 풀어가는 동반자가 되는 것.

"그건 사실이 아닙니다. 왜 그런지 설명해 드릴게요."
"그 정보는 일부만 맞습니다. 전체 그림을 함께 살펴봅시다."

이렇게 말할 때면 환자의 표정이 밝아지는 것을 본다. 그것은 질병의 회복보다 더 값진 순간이다. 혼란 속에서 길을 찾은 안도감, 불확실성의 안개가 걷히는 순간의 행복감이다.
우리는 모두 각자의 방식으로 불안과 싸운다. 의사인 나도 내 몸에 이상이 생기면 궁금증을 참지 못해 검색창을 두드린다. 인간이기에 가질 수밖에 없는 본능이다. 그럴 때마다 내 환자들이 느꼈을 막막함을 더 깊이 이해하게 된다.

이제 진료실에서 "인터넷에서 봤는데요"라는 말이 시작될 때, 나는 미소 짓는다. 그 말은 더 이상 의사로서의 자존심을 건드리는 도전이 아니라, 함께 진실을 찾아가자는 초대장이 되었다. 정보의 홍수 속에서 올바른 항로를 찾아가는 여정, 그 여정에 동행할 수 있다는 것은 의사로서의 특권이자 기쁨이다.

디지털 시대의 의사는 단순한 지식의 전달자가 아니라, 혼란스러운 정보의 바다에서 환자와 함께 항해하는 선장이어야 한다. 나이가 들수록 그 사실이 더 선명하게 다가온다. 인터넷 너머에서 답을 찾아 헤매다 내게 온 환자들에게, 나는 오늘도 따뜻한 손을 내민다.

Are You Quick-Witted? You Will Survive in the AI Era.

According to Sam Altman, GPT-4.5, the largest and most human-like model, was developed with an enormous investment of resources, resulting in a high price tag.

To put it simply, AI has finally learned to "read the room," and what was once considered an exclusive human ability—quick wit and social awareness—turns out to be an extremely valuable resource.

How Can "Quick Wit" Be Defined Technically?

The intelligence we call "quick wit", often learned through life experiences and hearing phrases like "Be more aware of your surroundings" from adults, is actually a highly sophisticated cognitive function.

At its core, it involves social intelligence, which allows one to recognize social boundaries, and emotional intelligence, which helps one consider others' feelings when communicating or acting.

For AI to develop this capability, it must master contextual reasoning, affect recognition, and social nuance detection—skills that humans acquire naturally through social interactions.

The Evolution of GPT-4.5: Has AI Started "Reading the Room"?

Looking at the GPT-4.5 demo presented at launch, the difference from previous versions is striking.

For example, in earlier models, if you asked AI to draft a message to a friend who was late for an appointment, the response might have been so blunt that it sounded like an attempt to sever the friendship.

In contrast, GPT-4.5 now handles the situation naturally, merely pointing out the tardiness and asking for a reason—just as a human would. (For people, this isn't such a difficult task.)

In essence, AI has begun to understand undefined contexts and situations.

This is an ability humans develop through years of personal interactions, experiences, and social touchpoints.

It isn’t something found in books, laws, or even moral principles.

It is a metaphysical aspect of human nature—one that varies from person to person, shaped by individual life experiences. Some react aggressively, others compliantly, some gently, and others appropriately.

For AI to acquire this skill, it requires significantly more training time and computational power. (After all, even humans take over 20 years to fully develop this ability.)

As revealed in the demo, GPT-4.5 was trained using expanded reasoning capabilities and unsupervised learning techniques.

This shift in methodology dramatically increased the computational resources required,

leading to a 30-fold increase in usage costs compared to previous GPT models.

What’s Next?

Now that we know AI can acquire a sense of "quick wit" and social sensitivity, the next phase is another battle.

If we can enhance the DeepSeek base model with an effective persona reasoning dataset

and region-specific social norms (or rather, subtle social nuances),

we could build a second fast follower—one that shocks the world without the massive resource investments that OpenAI has made.

샘 알트만에 따르면, 가장 크고 가장 사람다운 모델인 GPT-4.5는 역시나 엄청난 자원을 투입해 개발되었고, 그만큼 높은 가격이 매겨졌다.
이를 한마디로 정리하면, 이제서야 AI가 눈치를 챙기게 되었으며, 인간만의 고유한 능력이라 여겨졌던 ‘눈치’가 사실은 매우 비싼 자원이라는 뜻이다.

눈치란 어떻게 기술적으로 정의할 수 있을까?
어른들에게 "눈치 좀 챙겨!"라는 핀잔을 들으며 사회적으로 체득되는 ‘눈치’라는 지능은 사실 매우 고차원적으로 정의된다.
일단 사회적 허용 한계를 인지하는 사회적 지능(Social Intelligence), 그리고 상대방의 감정을 고려해 대화나 행동을 조절하는 정서지능(Emotional Intelligence)을 바탕으로,
AI는 맥락적 추론(Contextual Reasoning), 감정 인식(Affect Recognition), 그리고 사회적 뉘앙스(Social Nuance)를 이해해야 한다.

GPT-4.5의 변화: AI가 눈치를 챙기기 시작했다?
이번 런칭에서 공개된 GPT-4.5의 데모를 보면, 이전 버전과 확연히 달라진 점이 있다.
예를 들어, 예전 버전의 인공지능은 약속에 늦은 친구에게 답장을 써달라고 요청했을 때, 마치 절교할 것처럼 직설적인 답장을 생성했다.
반면, 이번 GPT-4.5는 인간처럼 자연스럽게 늦은 것을 지적하고, 이유를 물어보는 정도로 마��리했다. (사람에게는 이게 그렇게 어려운 일이 아니���.)
결국, AI가 정의되지 않은 상황과 맥락을 이해하기 시작했다는 뜻이다.
이는 인간이 가족과 사회에서 많은 스킨십과 경험을 통해 자연스럽게 체득하는 능력이다.
하지만 책에도 나오지 않고, 법률도 아니며, 도덕도 아니다.
그저 각자의 환경과 경험에 따라 누군가는 과격하게, 누군가는 순응적으로, 누군가는 부드럽게, 누군가는 적절하게 반응하는 형이상학적인 부분이다.
이를 AI가 학습하려면 더 많은 시간과 GPU 자원이 필요하다. (사실 인간도 이를 제대로 학습하는 데 20년 이상 걸리는 것 같다.)

데모에서 밝혀졌듯이, GPT-4.5는 이를 추론(Reasoning)의 확장과 비지도 학습(Unsupervised Learning)을 통해 학습했다.
이러한 학습 방식은 기존보다 훨씬 많은 GPU 자원을 필요로 했고,
그 결과 GPT-4.5의 이용료는 기존 GPT 모델과 비교했을 때 30배 증가했다.

그렇다면, 앞으로���?
이제 AI가 ‘눈치’와 같은 미묘한 사회적 감각을 배울 수 있다는 사실이 확인되었다.
그렇다면 이제부터 또 전쟁이다.
DeepSeek Base Model에 효과적인 Persona Reasoning Dataset, 그리고 지역별 사회 규범(정확히 말하면, 사회적 뉘앙스에 더 가까운 요소들)을 추가한다면?
OpenAI와 같은 막대한 자원을 투입하지 않고도, 세계를 깜짝 놀라게 할 두 번째 패스트 팔로워(Fast Follower)가 탄생할 것이다.

Has MVP + Agile Reached Its Limit?

There was a time when starting a business meant everyone kept talking about BM, BM. Back then, just asking whether there was an MVP seemed like a sophisticated question. If an investor asked, "How much revenue do you have?" they could even be seen as someone who didn’t understand tech trends.

But now, the situation has completely changed.

After analyzing YC W25 companies, I couldn’t find a single one that got accepted with just a basic MVP.
It was honestly surprising how well-built their services were.
From UI to design and user experience, nothing was lacking.

The traditional definition of an MVP, a "minimum viable product that customers want," is no longer valid.
Now, it needs to be a minimum payable product (MPV)—a product compelling enough to trigger a customer’s purchasing desire.

Why Was MVP + Agile the Go-To Model for Startups?

The reason MVP + Agile strategies were effective in the past was simple.
1. Development resources were the most expensive part of the process.
2. Market analysis could never be perfect, so startups had to keep experimenting to find the right direction.

But now, it’s a completely different era.
- Thanks to open source, there is no need to reinvent the wheel.
- Even development resources are becoming cheaper with tools like Cursor and cloud-based development platforms.
- Market research? No longer a bottleneck. By leveraging social media, news sources, and LLM-powered research services like Deepsearch, startups can generate a fully structured report within hours.

Just yesterday, I saw that DeepSeek released a bias-mitigated model on Hugging Face.
At this point, LLMs have become a public utility—just like electricity, computers, and storage.

Q. What if an investor still talks about MVP and Agile?
A. Walk away.

Instead, startups should also avoid the mistake of trying to convince investors by saying, "We have a technical barrier."
Honestly, investors don’t believe it, and they won’t be convinced.
(Sometimes, founders from top U.S. schools manage to persuade them, but even they don’t have a real solution.)

In the past, there was a famous saying in the startup scene:
"Someone else already has your idea."

This was meant to encourage founders not to ask for NDAs but instead to share their ideas as widely as possible and gather momentum.

But today, the reality is:
"The product you're building can already be assembled like LEGO blocks and launched by someone else tomorrow."

The old mindset that "execution is everything" is no longer enough for startups.

If you move fast in the wrong direction, it will only take longer to get back on track.
Research like a needle, and build broadly using open source and AI. (It doesn’t take as long as you think.)
If you research broadly and develop like a needle, you will fail.

MVP + 애자일 모델은 끝났는가?

한때 창업한다고 하면 다들 BM, BM하던 시절이 있었다. 그때는 MVP가 있는지만 물어봐도 꽤 고상한 질��처럼 보였다. 심지어 투자자가 "매출이 얼마인가?'라고 묻기라도 하면, 마치 테크 트렌드를 모르는 사람처럼 보일 때도 있었다.

하지만, 이제는 상황이 완전히 달라졌다.
YC W25 기업들을 분석해본 결과, MVP만 덜렁 만들어서 합격한 회사는 단 하나도 없었다.
진짜 다들 어떻게 그렇게 서비스를 완벽하게 만드는지 놀라울 정도였다. UI는 물론이고, 디자인, 사용자 경험까지 어느 하나 부족한 것이 없었다.

MVP의 기존 정의, 즉 "고객이 원하는 최소한의 동작 가능한 제품"이라는 개념은 이제 더 이상 유효하지 않다.
이제는 고객이 구매 욕구를 느낄 만큼 충분히 매력적인 최소 제품(Minimum Payable Product, MPV)이어야 한다.

스타트업이 MVP + 애자일 모델을 강조했던 이유는 무엇이었나?

과거 MVP + 애자일 전략이 유효했던 이유는 간단했다.
1. 개발 리소스가 가장 비쌌다.
2. 시장 분석은 완벽할 수 없었기 때문에, 끊임없이 실험하며 방향을 찾아야 했다.

그러나 지금은 완전히 다른 시대다.
오픈소스 덕분에 바퀴를 다시 발명할 필요가 없어졌고, 심지어 이를 풀칠(조립)할 개발 리소스조차도 Cursor와 클라우드 개발 툴 덕분에 계속 싸지고 있다. 마켓 리서치 역시 소셜 미디어, 뉴스, LLM 기반 리서치 서비스(Deepsearch 등)를 활용하면 몇 시간 만에 완성된 보고서까지 만들 수 있다.

어제만 해도, DeepSeek이 편향성을 해결한 모델을 Hugging Face에 공개하는 것을 보면서, 이제 LLM은 전기, 컴퓨터, 저장 공간만 있으면 누구나 쓸 수 있는 공공재가 되었다는 걸 확신했다.

Q. 지금도 MVP와 애자일을 이야기하는 투자사가 있다면?
A. 그런 투자사는 바로 거르자.

대신, 스타트업 스스로 '우리는 Technical Barrier가 있다'며 투자자를 설득하려는 실��를 하지 말아야 한다. 물론 믿지도 않고 설득되지도 않는다. (간혹 미국 Top School 빨로 설득이 되는 경우도 있으나, 그들도 뾰족한 방법은 없다.)

과거 스타트업 씬에서는 '당신의 아이디어는 이미 누군가도 가지고 있다'라는 격언이 유명했다. 그러니 NDA 요구하지 말고 최대한 자신의 아이디어를 이야기하고 힘을 결집하라는 의미였을 것이다.

그러나 지금은 '당신이 만들려는 아이템은 이미 레고 블록처럼 조립되어 내일 누군가에 의해 출시될 수 있다.'라는 현실을 직시해야 한다.

스타트업의 생명은 실행력이라는 우직한 태도로는 더 이상 충분하지 않다.
빠르게 잘못된 길을 가면, 되돌아오는 데 더 오래 걸릴 뿐이다.
