The devastating flash flood that struck Nepal’s northern Rasuwa district near the Tibet border on 26 August has killed at least 270 people and left more than 1,000 missing. It is too early to establish a direct link between climate change and this particular glacier collapse.
The second consecutive day of breaking temp records saw Sunday's global average reaching 62.76°F (17.09°C), according to the C3S. The period between Jul '23 and Jul '24 was the hottest on record. Scientists attribute this unprecedented warming to human-induced climate change.
Preliminary investigations point towards the Eloor-Edayar industrial area, known for housing several chemical and manufacturing industries, as the likely source of the pollution. This area has a history of environmental violations.
