@RajSharma1857 Hi there! We are certainly interested in trying to help revive scripts. I'm currently working on a Sharada font in my spare time.
If you have New Dogra script resources to share, I would love to see them! [email protected]
Why are there different ways to write ध भ ख ?
Most early Devanagari fonts were cast to resemble traditional calligraphic forms – but in the mid-1900s, there was a push to make these letters more legible in printing.

@TiroTypeworks @JamraPatel 🙏 @JamraPatel I would love to invite you to our Unicode slack group... we will definitely need your expertise in the keyboard discussion.
@davelab6@TiroTypeworks@sridatta_a @n__goyal @HindiRinny@anshumanpandey_@itfoundry@keyman (2/2) As I understand it, the Shree Lipi packages only come with a single Unicode font per script. I imagine users would prefer using DTP software that allowed them to use multiple Unicode fonts in real-time, while they were inputing text.
@davelab6@TiroTypeworks@sridatta_a @n__goyal @HindiRinny@anshumanpandey_@itfoundry@keyman It does, but it has been a long time since I've used it, I will see if my 7.2 version will install on my Windows 10 PC. Though I imagine that a free-standing keyboard would be more versatile, as it could be easily paired with Open Office and other software alternatives? 1/2
@sridatta_a @n__goyal @HindiRinny@anshumanpandey_@itfoundry Thanks for confirming. For these customers, we must educate & offer a full DTP solution (w/ low-cost software) that is worth the investment. Being able to use the same text on print & web (not having to make e-paper versions) would surely save them time & money in the long-run.
@sridatta_a @n__goyal @HindiRinny Yes, I agree there. I would love to get in on the ground floor here. I want to get information out to average users who haven't switched to Unicode yet, rather than only catering to elite design and advertising studios.
@sridatta_a @n__goyal @HindiRinny Yes I agree. Adoption of Unicode fonts and software by publishers is a huge obstacle that needs to be overcome. I want to help with this, too. One of my first steps is researching open source or low-cost DTP software to recommend. (Adobe products are too $$$). I'll msg you!
@n__goyal I hope to create more educational content in the future, as time permits! Meanwhile, I will keep posting examples of Indic lettering on the @hindirinny instagram account, to show examples of letter variation. Hope it can help people! – Erin
@n__goyal Hi Namrata! This was meant as a historical post to show the shapes of Monotype Devanagari 155 specifically, comparing with types of the same era.
Indeed, printing quality has improved and modern typefaces (including my own) use both styles of letters!
Thanks for the note!
I'm happy to announce that Adobe #Kannada now has Italics!

Why make italics for Kannada, when they are foreign to the script? @alolita & @a_srinidhi asked an important question about Latinization. Here's my short reply.
I am planning to make Indic script typesetting educational materials in the future and hope others do, too!
@alolita Thank you, I agree with you, italics are foreign, and Adobe is aware. Regardless, users are still clicking the "Italic" button in MS Word's UI, or in web development, and we wanted to provide an option with optical corrections, better spacing/kerning than in faux italics. 1/2
@dabbanannmaga@AdobeType@HindiRinny@pauldhunt I agree with you! Though in comparing the two spellings online, I found far more use of ಅಡೋಬ್ for Adobe products and related news, oddly enough. Thanks for the note!
@bjha1400 Hi Bhaskar, thank you so much for informing us about these! Would you mind if we email you to ask for some feedback and corrections on the research that she has been gathering on letter and conjunct formation? We'd love your help! If so, could you please send me a DM? Thank you!
