And since you identify as a Christian Zionist, let's discuss the historical irony of that position as a Black South African because this is where I struggle to understand your reasoning. You are perfectly entitled to your religious and political convictions. But have you examined the historical relationship between the Israeli government and apartheid South Africa? Because the documentary record is deeply uncomfortable.

During the 1970s and 1980s, while Black South Africans were fighting institutionalised racial oppression, Israel maintained extensive military, economic, and strategic cooperation with the apartheid government. This is not an obscure historical allegation... it was the subject of international diplomatic condemnation.
Here is the uncomfortable question... How do you reconcile your unconditional theological defence of a state whose government maintained strategic relations with the very apartheid regime that denied your people their fundamental human rights?
I'm not suggesting that Black South Africans must subscribe to particular political positions, nor am I attributing the Israeli government's historical conduct to Jewish people collectively. Jewish South Africans themselves held diverse political views, including fierce opposition to apartheid.
However, historical consistency matters.

How do you invoke biblical morality to defend contemporary state conduct while dismissing the documented historical relationship between that state and a regime responsible for systematically oppressing Black people in your own country?

😭 The irony of declaring “I'm a Christian Zionist” while conflating Judaism with Zionism is extraordinary! You've inadvertently demonstrated the very distinction I'm explaining. Let me help.

1. Being Jewish is an identity, not a political affiliation.
Jewishness encompasses religion, ancestry, culture, history and peoplehood. Judaism predates modern political Zionism by thousands of years.
Jewish people are not politically homogeneous. Some are Zionists, others are non-Zionists, and some explicitly oppose Zionism.

2. Zionism is a nationalist political movement.
Modern political Zionism emerged in the 19th century, advocating Jewish national self-determination and a homeland or state in the historic Land of Israel.
Crucially, you do not have to be Jewish to be a Zionist, and being Jewish does not automatically make someone a Zionist.

3. And then there's Christian Zionism. Your own declared position! 😭
Christian Zionism is a Christian theological and political position that supports Israel, frequently interpreting its establishment and significance through biblical covenant or prophecy.
It does not make you Jewish, nor does it transform your theological interpretation into binding international law.
You are perfectly entitled to your Christian Zionist beliefs. But those beliefs do not immunise the Israeli government from scrutiny, criticism or accountability.

4. Here's the distinction you keep missing:
Criticism of Judaism or hostility towards Jewish people because they are Jewish can constitute antisemitism.
Criticism of Zionism as a political ideology, or criticism of Israeli government policies, is not automatically antisemitism. Context, content and intent matter.

Ironically, your declaration that you're a Christian Zionist is practically a live demonstration that Zionism and Jewish identity are not interchangeable!
You can be Christian and Zionist. You can be Jewish and anti-Zionist. You can be Jewish and Zionist. These are distinct categories.

So, with respect, please stop treating religious identity, political ideology, biblical interpretation and modern state sovereignty as though they were synonyms.
The distinction isn't complicated. Your own self-description proves it! 😭😂
