This is textbook rhetoric of ethnic cleansing that cannot be accepted in any civil society, let alone the United States.
It is an affront to humanity to weaponize this horrific trauma to justify the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians.
It is dangerous and must stop.
Robert De Niro’s full statement on Trump. Please read and let me know your thoughts:
I’ve spent a lot of time studying bad men. I’ve examined their characteristics, their mannerisms, the utter banality of their cruelty. Yet there’s something different about Donald Trump. When I look at him, I don’t see a bad man. Truly.
I see an evil one.
Over the years, I’ve met gangsters here and there. This guy tries to be one, but he can’t quite pull it off. There’s such a thing as “honor among thieves.” Yes, even criminals usually have a sense of right and wrong. Whether they do the right thing or not is a different story — but — they have a moral code, however warped.
Donald Trump does not. He’s a wannabe tough guy with no morals or ethics. No sense of right or wrong. No regard for anyone but himself — not the people he was supposed to lead and protect, not the people he does business with, not the people who follow him, blindly and loyally, not even the people who consider themselves his “friends.” He has contempt for all of them.
We New Yorkers got to know him over the years that he poisoned the atmosphere and littered our city with monuments to his ego. We knew first hand that this was someone who should never be considered for leadership. We tried to warn the world in 2016.
The repercussions of his turbulent presidency divided America and rattled New York City beyond imagination. Remember how we were jolted by crisis in early 2020, as a virus swept the world. We lived with Donald Trump’s bombastic behavior every day on the national stage, and we suffered as we saw our neighbors piling up in body bags.
The man who was supposed to protect this country put it in peril, because of his recklessness and impulsiveness. It was like an abusive father ruling the family by fear and violent behavior. That was the consequence of New York’s warning getting ignored. Next time, we know it will be worse.
Make no mistake: the twice-impeached, 4-time indicted Donald Trump is still a fool. But we can’t let our fellow Americans write him off like one. Evil thrives in the shadow of dismissive mockery, which is why we must take the danger of Donald Trump very seriously.
So today we issue another warning. From this place where Abraham Lincoln spoke — right here in the beating heart of New York — to the rest of America:
This is our last chance.
Democracy won’t survive the return of a wannabe dictator.
And it won’t overcome evil if we are divided.
So what do we do about it? I know I’m preaching to the choir here. What we’re doing today is valuable, but we have to take today into tomorrow – take it outside these walls. We have to reach out to the half of our country who have ignored the hazards of Trump and, for whatever reason, support elevating him back into the White House. They’re not stupid, and we must not condemn them for making a stupid choice. Our future doesn’t just depend on us. It depends on them.
Let’s reach out to Trump’s followers with respect. Let’s not talk about “democracy.” “Democracy” may be our holy grail, but to others it is just a word, a concept, and in their embrace of Trump, they’ve already turned their backs on it. Let’s talk about right and wrong. Let’s talk about humanity. Let’s talk about kindness. Security for our world. Safety for our families. Decency. Let’s welcome them back. We won’t get them all, but we can get enough to end the nightmare of Trump, and fulfill the mission of this “Stop Trump Summit.”
If Republicans are serious about their commitment to Israel's safety and security, they need to STOP
- Tommy Tuberville's blockade against military promotions and confirmations
- Rand Paul's "blanket hold" on State Department nominees
- Spreading the $6 billion dollar lie.
Our caucus is united AND focused on improving American lives and helping our allies.
Get YOUR House in order, GOP.
For those keeping track he’s now vetoed:
-expanded protections for trans kids in custody disputes
-unemployment benefits for striking workers
-anti caste discrimination bill
-bill supported by truck drivers/labor to protect their jobs by requiring drivers in self driving cars
Pay close attention to how this site is handling the commentary on the Middle East.
No “community notes” to diffuse dangerous political disinformation.
Right-wing conspiracy theories running rampant, boosted by armies of bots and clickbait junkies.
This is exactly the setup they wanted going into 2024.
Elon Musk boosting two regular fake news posters who have historically posted debunked videos
neither are on the ground or verify. both have shared AI-generated videos in the past as real.
they just share any garbage they come across to rack up views.
The whole thing was that Hillary’s emails MIGHT cause national security secrets to leak.
Trump did it ON PURPOSE, and it’s barely a story. What the fuck is going on?
Can you imagine for just one Fucking second if tomorrow morning the breaking news was that former President Obama had shared OUR TOP SECRET NUCLEAR SUBMARINE CAPABILITIES with some foreign billionaire he played tennis with and then THAT fucking guy went ahead and shared said NUCLEAR CAPABILITY information with like every dude he passed by on the street?!?
Republicans lost their collective shit over a tan fucking suit.
Ok guys- admittedly not an expert on the subject, but is a former President sharing sensitive information about our nuclear submarines with a paying member at his golf club who then shared that info with at least 45 others, including six journalists, 11 of his company's employees, 10 Australian officials, and three former Australian prime ministers covered under the Presidential Records Act?
Seems kinda unclear. 🤔
HEY REPUBLICANS: Stop trying to blame Democrats for the chaos and calamity in your own caucus.
You all knew as well as we did what a weak and spineless leader McCarthy would be. He was no leader, being dragged around by the nose by Marjorie Taylor Greene, of all people.
But YOU chose him.
After 15 rounds, no less.
And then you let a narcissistic renegade throw a political grenade to oust your Speaker. Out of all of your loudmouths in the House, nobody could check Gaetz?
Pathetic.
You know who NEVER had problems like that? Speaker Pelosi, who was able to get shit done with even more narrow margins than McCarthy had.
For all of the venom you reserve for her, she was able to handle her business, passing legislation for the American people left and right, and her spine is made of steel.
She served for 2,920 days.
McCarthy? 269 days.
YOUR fault.
So, you have more vendettas you want to settle, more axes to grind that are more important than handling the business of the people? Go for it.
But the American people are watching.
And there are 397 days until Election Day.
Stop wasting our time.
It took Trump less than 24 hours to violate the gag order put into effect yesterday by Judge Engoron. It went into effect yesterday at around 3:30PM. He violated it this morning at 9:53AM
I realize judges are trying to avoid this, but PUT HIM IN A FUCKING PRETRIAL DETENTION CELL

this makes me so angry. millions of hours of people cultivating connection and community and one man-child’s whims just destroyed it because of a mood swing he felt while vacationing on an island (that btw no individual person should own)
