🇮🇷 Iran is getting squeezed from 3 directions

The Strait of Hormuz is reopening, Iran’s oil exports are reportedly nearing zero, and its own political leadership is now openly arguing over whether the war can continue.

Nearly 200 vessels passed through Hormuz last week, a roughly 400% increase in two weeks, while U.S. pressure and the UAE’s suspension of trade are tightening the economic noose.

President Masoud Pezeshkian says the war must eventually end. Parliament Speaker Mohammad Ghalibaf is warning that military power means little if Iran’s economy collapses.

Tehran may still have missiles, but its leverage is getting harder to convert into an exit.

How far the Economist has fallen, in the 12 years since I cancelled my subscription, is remarkable.

It is entirely reasonable for a public servant in a leadership position to appear before a Senate committee.

It is no longer a secret (for many files have been released in the public domain, and there are multiple testimonies of those who worked with him) that Fauci lied about many aspects of Covid, including the origin of the virus. He covered up the known risks associated with the vaccines, whilst making very different comments in private, via slack.

Furthermore, he acted to cover up the origin and the circumstances of the viral leak from the Wuhan lab. He lied about his involvement in having sponsored gain of function research in China, following President Obama’s refusal to allow it in the USA.

As for the Senate hearing, he pleaded the 5th Amendment for every single question asked, despite having the benefit of a full Presidential pardon for any criminal matters known or unknown - so he faced no legal risk whatsoever. He could have spoken candidly, and assisted the committee with their inquiry.

That unprecedented, usual pardon for all future allegations (even the yet publicly unknown) does of course call into question just how complicit Biden, or the Democrat staffers/puppeteers who ran his White House, had been during the great COVID deception.
