Wild Dioscorea was harvested with much hardship from Sholayar by our Kadar friends. And it was on the main course at The Locavore Meetup in Kochi. Tubers are not only nutritious but also versatile, so make sure you incorporate more of them.

Lemongrass oil is made in simple mud and brass units in Marayur, Idukki. Proud to be launching this signature product from the indigenous villages of Marayur Tribal Welfare Society. Our team also offered a beeswax balm training to a women's group.

A large number of trees were chopped in Kuno wildlife sanctuary, in MP to accommodate Modi's helipad for his helicopter landing & to accommodate 300 VIP's who were brought to witness him releasing 8 cheetahs there!
So much for Modi's love for conservation!
Nagamma is one of the master weavers in the community. Uses the finest slivers for her craft. So dedicated that often we see her work on her baskets well into the night. She got featured in the UNDP short film and is rather excited about it.

My thoughts on #RanveerVsWild
Stop this toxicity machoism, & these fake "confrontations" with wild animals. It's far more cool to learn how to live with wildlife, like millions of people in the world do. The animals didn't sign up for this - it just vilifies them for no reason
Shocking video of a mountain glacier collapsing in Kyrgyzstan in Central Asia.
Just a week ago Italy saw a deadly glacier collapse killing 11 people.
With a rapidly warming climate expect more sobering scenes like this in the future.
Our first #TLPartner@forestpost_in based out of Thrissur in central Kerala helps provide livelihood to indigenous tribal communities by enabling them to create value added products from Minor Forest Produce like shatavri, mango ginger, and wild fern.
Last month at this workshop we realised how little is in the formal curriculum about the great diversity of #foragedfoods & their knowledge holders. Resource persons from the Kadar & Malayar communities, Bindu & Chandrika, were natural story tellers!

Any pristine wilderness is a result of years of Adivasi co-existence. These are communities that have placed minimum burden on its land, water and other resources. Governments should push for carbon credits to forest-dwelling communities for maintaining forests.
Getting to know Chandrika has been nothing less than a revelation. She is a storehouse of Kadar ethnobotanical knowledge.
Seeing the forest through her eyes has enriched us so!
