War is rarely experienced by those who argue for it.
Before speaking casually about war, visit the child crying himself to sleep because his stomach has been empty for two days. Sit beside the mother holding her shivering baby through a cold night because their home is now a pile of dust. Watch the father dig through concrete with bleeding hands hoping to find someone still breathing.
War does not make us safe. It multiplies grief and trains the next generation to despair.
If we still have a conscience, the suffering of the innocent must stay at the center of the conversation.
Today, I heard a guy explain to his friend why "not all men" is so wrong. He said the first lesson you learn about gun safety is to treat EVERY weapon like it's loaded, even if you think it's probably not. Treat it like it's loaded, for everyone's safety! That's exactly how women have learned to treat men.
