the day regulus was gonna obliviate james, he spent the entire day with him; visiting their fave spots, eating good food, kissing him whenever he can cus he knows this will be the last time. like giving your dog a great day before putting it down.
it was the perfect plan except,
eb commenting on joseph’s post is not predatory behavior you guys need to touch grass and talk to real people instead of spending all your time behind a screen. your behavior is concerning.
i have a moral obligation to remind everyone that harry potter is NOT a boring protagonist. he was brawling with his rival on the hogwarts express, constantly talking back to professors, and deeply sarcastic. he is far from a generic hero.
joseph zada is a 21 year old man, not a 16 year old boy. it is not predatory for elle fanning or elizabeth banks to interact with him. if you’re gonna keep behaving like weirdo boy moms about this guy, i suggest you log off and go touch grass genuinely.
if you see an actress from the old cast supporting the protagonist from the new cast in instagram comments and try to make this kind of implications, you're deeply sick. if you see joseph zada interacting with his cast mate and this is how you react, you're deeply sick.
I showed my boyfriend a Wolfstar fan art, it took him a while to figure what characters he’s looking at, I didn’t realise he never heard of Wolfstar before 😭
In defence of Cho Chang.
I’ve seen a lot of criticism about Cho’s name and her characterisation, but honestly, I think a lot of it comes from people misunderstanding both.
Her name is Chinese. 张卓 is a real Chinese name, and it isn’t a slur or some random combination of sounds. Rowling used an older romanisation system, which is why the spelling looks different from the Hanyu Pinyin system people are more familiar with today.
And as for Cho herself, I don’t think her characterisation is particularly stereotypical.
East Asian characters are often stereotyped as quiet, socially awkward, academically obsessed nerds who are physically weak or bad at sports. Cho is basically the opposite. She’s popular, has plenty of friends, is portrayed as pretty and sensitive, and she’s a talented Quidditch player.
Yes, she’s a Ravenclaw, but Ravenclaw isn’t simply the “nerd house.” Otherwise Hermione would have been a Ravenclaw.
And the criticism of Cho for crying has always bothered me.
Her boyfriend had literally died not long before she started struggling emotionally. She was grieving and dealing with trauma. The narrative doesn’t portray her crying as some character flaw, and Hermione actually empathises with her when Harry complains about it.
Like… what exactly were people expecting?
For her to go through something that traumatic and immediately go back to being a social butterfly?
Have some empathy for Cho.
