@VXO Its so hard to remove and most solvents won't touch it. We have some stuff that just has gaffer over the feet to seal it in because nobody wanted to deal with removing it.

@theavalkyrie As much as I despise Hakko's obscene pricing on consumables and the lack of a good stand, the FR-300 (now FR-301) is really the only good thing in the category unless you buy a big benchtop setup. The 1.6 and 1.0mm nozzles cover most uses.
I clamped it in the vise and put air to it at ~15psi so it would run slow. I used it to file off its own first two threads to create clearance. This fixed the problem.
But now it was actually worse. Assembling it without the collet inside revealed the tolerances were off and the nut was bottoming out and chewing up the end threads before it got tight enough.
