On 28 July 2026, the latest Baidoa Townhall meeting was successfully held after a four month hiatus.

The resumption of the Baidoa Townhalls marks an important step for community dialogue and engagement on local security and justice issues.

Baidoa Municipality and Southwest State Ministers, the local communities, private sector and partners validated feasibility Study on sustainable and Economical Gainful Waste Management System for Baidoa. This is a big step for Baidoa’s new department of waste management which will focus on a circular economy approach, prioritizing waste reduction, resource recovery, and sustainable disposal methods. I would like to thank the consultant-Braintecc and the project sponsor-UK’s FCDO @FCDOGovUK and @iom_somalia for supporting the municipality initiatives.
