#ThereForMe. @wesstreeting#WorldPatientSafetyDay
I am considered “Moderately” affected by ME. I am not in bed, but am 95% housebound. It means I can’t work, socialise, support my son or be the wife I want to be. Does that sound “moderate” to you?
“The more severely ill you are, the less care you get” Never so true as for those like Sophia with #verysevereME bedbound, unsupported, forgotten, reliant on family carers, too scared to go to hospital for fear of harm. They need a NHS that’s #ThereforME@wesstreeting@DHSCgovuk
On #WorldPatientSafetyDay, happy to be one of the 200 healthcare professionals who signed the letter to @wesstreeting in collaboration with #There4ME calling for urgent action to improve care for people with severe #ME and #LongCovid.
#CovidIsNotOver
And I am going to keep trying to get the government to focus on improving ventilation & air filtration, to reduce risks of ALL respiratory illnesses. Helping people protect themselves

#ThereForME is an important and timely campaign - All patients deserve assessment & treatment that is appropriate, informed, accessible, and substantial, commensurate with the disease…. but with #MECFS the reality can be the opposite. 👀 Read more on #WorldPatientSafetyDay:
At the bottom of the #thereformeletter there is a list of Healthcare workers who have signed the letter. This is as close as we can currently get to a list of relatively safe doctors to see in the country. Its worth looking through to see if one is near.

My GP’s try their best to be #ThereForME but with restrictions in NHS guidelines for off licence care, testing & a complete lack of specialist services to support patients with #MyalgicEncephalomyelitis I am (we all are) left to rot on our own.
How can this be ok? @wesstreeting
Thank you for adding your name to this letter. People with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis need more healthcare professionals to speak up. My teenage daughter is bedbound and tube-fed. 3 years of her childhood stolen. She holds onto hope but she needs an NHS that is #ThereforME
#ThereForME & healthcare professionals are concerned about the safety of #pwME within the NHS. Without investment in services, HCPs are often powerless to act. We urgently need a commitment from @wesstreeting and @DHSCgovuk to make the NHS safe for #pwME. #WorldPatientSafetyDay
My daughter Isla died in May, she had Severe ME. She was left to rot and die at home with no support from the NHS. She only received one home visit from her GP in her years of illness. Things have to change.

Cases of Long Covid still growing, German health minister says
(Has some references to ME/CFS)

1/ The most severe ME patients are receiving the lowest quality of care. Many fear a hospital stay will make them worse.
🏥 Led by @BinitaKane , 202 healthcare professionals and #ThereForME have written to the @DHSCgovuk on #WorldPatientSafetyDay urging action.
