@rightscholar @JamesMartinSJ Sex, both as biological differentiation and as particular acts, terminates in procreation. A sexual drive towards the same sex, with whom procreation is impossible, evinces a problem rendering them unfit for Orders, even if continent.

@ConceptualJames The Jesuit John Hardon once said something similar. That Protestantism is Old Testament Christianity, and the USA follows an Old Testament morality. He didn’t think this was a good thing. One example of being Catholic is you can appreciate the USA without divinizing it.

Being that it’s Corpus Christi I’d like to offer some advice to help us all take more seriously our faith in the dogmatic teaching that the Most Holy Eucharist is the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity’s sacramental mode of presence:

Basics:

1. Attend Mass every Sunday and Holy Days of Obligation regardless of whether you can sacramentally receive Communion or not.
2. Do not receive Holy Communion if you discern mortal sin on your conscience. First, go to Confession and receive sacramental absolution.
3. Diligently observe the Eucharistic Fast, that is, no consumption of food and drink at least one hour prior to the reception of Holy Communion. The only exceptions to this are natural water, medication, and health issues. Coffee, tea, booze, candy, gum, artificially carbonated water, soda, etc., breaks the Eucharistic Fast.
4. Prepare yourself for both remotely and proximately for Mass. A good help to this is reading the readings and orations of the Mass before you attend Mass.
5. While at Mass be attentive to the prayers and readings.
6. Regardless of whether you can receive communion sacramentally, invite the Lord into your heart by way of a “Spiritual Communion.”
7. If you receive communion sacramentally, do so with reverence, this is of particular concern if you receive Communion in the hand. If so, do not receive in a casual way. Do not pop the host into your mouth like a pill. Do not grab the host. Receive the Lord with reverence and decorum.
8. If you are carrying a child or otherwise encumbered do not try to receive Communion in the hand.
9. After receiving Communion pray and reflect on the profound mystery you are sharing in at that very moment.
10. Kneel when the Blessed Sacrament is being transported.
11. If you walk into a church or chapel and Benediction is happening kneel in place until it is over before going to a pew.

Advanced:

1. Make regular daily visits to the blessed sacrament or attend daily Mass.
2. Receive communion according to the universal norm, that is, on the tongue, kneeling if convenient.
3. Participate in Eucharistic Processions.
4. Promote greater devotion to the Blessed Sacrament.

These are some very common ways that you can foster a greater devotion in yourself and promote devotion among others to Our Lord in the Most Holy Eucharist.
