Wild thought I had... AI will deprecate info (books and videos) and coaching.
1) AI will become a layer you interact with often through calendar, chat, apps, etc. That gives AI more insight than a coach or resource can access or care to understand.
2) Instead of spending hours watching/reading scam content and good content, I just get AI to filter out and implement it within my set of tools. Why watch 100s of youtube videos on marketing when I can get a better outcome by extracting transcripts and having ai process it.
3) If I'm no longer e.g. watching @AlexHormozi 's videos, these creators/authors might find it more efficient to create their own AI / skills that collaborates with mine to implement the learnings
Scaling my app | Post no. 10 - Now what?
Ran out of runaway for paid ads. Starting the job search in tier 1 cities soon.
I’m not done with the app. Here’s the pivot:
Hard paywall -> Freemium. Every install that doesnt convert is wasted spend w a hardpaywall. With freemium, every install is potential WOM and ASO signal. Better to ahve 1k active free users than 50 paid users who never open it. Also If I can’t have money, at least I can build a track record. Btw, hard paywall KILLED my ASO.
DMing every influencer - big or small - in my niche with a free lifetime code. No ask or strings attached. Just planting seeds. And who doesn’t love free stuff.
Localizing to every single language in a day or two because …
I’ll using paid ads to seed usage in different countries from time to time. (assuming I have a good enough K factor - I’ll have to figure out what it is)
But my main channel will be organic. I have one more feature I think could go viral.
Scaling my app | Post no. 9 tt and meta paid ads
Spent $417 on tiktok and $97 on meta. Made $229. Got 1.1k installs.
I’m shutting down my ads. Here’s what I learned:
Start with $20/day for 3 days. Establish baseline funnel metrics before touching anything.
One variable at a time. Find the worst part of your funnel. Fix it. Test for 3 days. Repeat.
Creatives are king. Think like a dropshipper. Hooks >>>
One channel first. Every platform has quirks. Tiktok’s: disable SKAN, optimize for installs not trials starts (if limited budget), and attribution is terrible so don’t trust it blindly.
50 conversions = real signal. Anything before is just noise. Don’t make decisions with no data.
Don’t blindly trust what has worked for someone. CBO vs. ABO. Advantage+. Dynamic. … Understand what you’re doing and test it.
For paid creatives to make sense you need 3 things:
1. strong creatives from day one. Otherwise you’re paying for an education
2. $20/day for 2+ months min. Enough to iterate enough times
3. ability to iterate fast on data. If you don’t have the time, you’re just wasting cash, and again if you don't have the skill, you're paying for an education but that's fine as long as you have the cash.
I don’t have 2) so I need to adjust my strategy. I'll talk about that in the next post.
Scaling my app | Post no. 8 tt paid ads
I'm just letting ads coast at $20/day optimized on installs for now. My start trial rate is <4%.
The guess: the onboarding is less than 4 screens. I made it short because I thought users might want to get straight to usage like Astra or UMax. I was wrong.
Spent the past 3 days working on a 19 screen onboarding. Waiting for apple to approve now. Then I'll run Meta ads at $20/day in parallel for 7 days to compare to tt and choose one to scale on.
Next biggest lever now: better creatives.
Scaling my app | Day 7 tt paid ads
With a baseline established, now its just about iteration. Rotating losers every 3 days. Trying to beat existing winners.
Meanwhile, I'm running a paywall A/B test.
Right now it's paused bc I found two big UX bugs.
If you're deciding between tiktok and meta for paid ads and you have a lean budget:
- Tiktok's event attribution is 8% of actual. This is from experience with installs.
- Meta's AEM is 50%. I heard this on a revenue cat podcast, and im going to test it out.
You need >50 events for the algos to learn. All else being equal, you'll establish baseline metrics with meta faster.
I'll report back if its cheaper too.
