PICK N PAY CRISIS:

Former Pick n Pay franchisee from Siyabuswa, Mpumalanga, claims he walked away with nothing after buying a former Score supermarket.

He alleges the store was presented as a BEE opportunity, but he alleges it was later sold for R4 million instead of about R16 million based on the valuation formula he believes should have applied.

He is now calling on @PicknPay, @GovernmentZA , stakeholders and the community to intervene.

Self-Taught Farmer Now Supplies Boxer and Pick n Pay

Wendy Moshakga, (27) a determined young woman from a village in Limpopo (Moletjie/Lonsdale/Blood River area),
Starting in 2021 with almost no capital, recycling cans for startup funds and beginning with backyard chickens. This self-taught farmer built Serage/Seratego Farms from scratch. She is best known as the “Cabbage Lady” for her large-scale cabbage production, while also growing spinach, bell peppers, and raising broilers.17
Today, her produce reaches major retailers including Boxer stores, Pick n Pay, Spar, and local markets. She has expanded to over 7–20 hectares, employs dozens of workers, mentors emerging farmers through training classes, and won the 2025 Rural Transformative Farmer of the Year Award.6
Her story highlights how grit and smart farming can turn rural challenges into real economic impact. A true inspiration for young agripreneurs!
