For the third Winter Olympics in a row, U.S. women won more gold medals and more medals overall than U.S. men. In the Summer Olympics, it’s four in a row for U.S. women. Why? Title IX of course. My @usatodaysports column: https://t.co/MUmbewFhe9
@andyserling Ah, thanks for the reminder; I remember that night so well. I was driving home across the GWB, loving seeing the endless expanse of Manhattan's lights below me, when the news came on the radio.
@HorseyGort Yeah...right up there with being p.o.'d that my college graduation was the same day as Secretariat's Preakness. I finally managed to watch it live on a bar tv in the restaurant where I went with my parents. A win-win Day!
Ron Turcotte died today. I'll never forget the night these two men rolled toward me on the red carpet: Secretariat's exercise rider, the late Charlie Davis & his jockey, Ron Turcotte. These two men had ridden Greatness. It was at the premiere of "Secretariat" in 2010. #memories
We are incredibly disappointed that the President’s 2026 budget request strips protective measures for wild horses. These national icons deserve better than being sold to an ultimate fate of destruction and we will be fighting back.
Join us in urging Congress to maintain existing measures in the upcoming FY 2026 Interior appropriations bill that protect wild horses from being killed and keep them out of the slaughter pipeline. Contact your federal officials here: https://t.co/pBzWzJCiWG
I'll be watching the #EclipseAwards tonight and appreciate @NTRA and others who recognize the recent passing of Ed Bowen. That's the now moment, but I wonder how/if racing can insure that his work and legacy are preserved for the future? #RacingHistoryMatters#equinehistory
I guess it's not just me. Maybe we can socialize while waiting to pick up our takeout orders? Even the stats in this article will make you feel a little lonely.
Don't know about you but I feel pretty badly about this stat: "The share of U.S. adults having dinner or drinks with friends on any given night has declined by more than 30 percent in the past 20 years." Here's the @TheAtlantic article on an awful trend in American life: https://t.co/eTxaJHLK9j
