@tree_rescuer @martindsouza @connor_mc_d It's the lure of "massive profits" that provides the incentive to discover new vaccines/drugs, which take years to develop, and most of which fail. And, what is meant by "investments are covered"? Breakeven? Cost plus X%? Whittle it down too much and will destroy incentives.

@connor_mc_d This puzzles me as well. SQL see weird, but if you can sling java, C++, python, etc., you can easily pick up quite powerful SQL skills in a weekend. Learning SQL is like learning to type - it pays massive dividends over the course of your career esp. in quantitative roles.
