This government is explicitly passing laws to protect Doug Ford.
We should all be concerned about what's in these texts, and the lengths the government is willing to go to in order to keep them hidden.
At the end of the day, Doug Ford’s FOI changes are all about hiding his cell phone records from the people of Ontario and rewriting the rules to protect himself.
What is he hiding and why is he working so hard to keep it a secret?
Contrary to what the Premier says - this is NOT about constituency calls.
This is about who has influence over Premier Doug Ford and whether his cell phone is used for unregistered lobbying.

So it’s not about China? Colour me shocked. In all seriousness, this is quite damning. Doug Ford is admitting he changed the law to hide his cell phone records.
Wait a moment. So Doug Ford’s move to exempt himself from accountability through Freedom of Information Requests was never really about the Chinese Communist Party? Ontario, your own premier has been lying to you. Again. It’s time for him to go.
Premier Doug Ford says the federal government "can get away with murder" and the media stays quiet - but finds questions from Ontario journalists about an Ontario government decision unfair.
"I guess there's double standards and that's fine," Ford says.

Doug Ford's fight against FOI's is entirely about avoiding accountability and preventing his own cell phone records from being released.
Ontarians deserve an honest government and to know what's so important in those texts that he's willing to go so far to keep them hidden.
Doug Ford is changing the law to block access to information from the Premier’s and Ministers’ offices through Freedom of Information requests.
Let’s be clear - without FOI, we wouldn’t know the truth about the Greenbelt scandal, the Skills Development Fund, and so much more.
Transparency matters. Ontarians deserve a government that answers to them, not one that hides in the dark. #onpoli
Doug Ford is now falsely suggesting that he needs to exempt his government, office and cell phone from Freedom of Information requests by journalists because, in his words, “We’ve got to protect ourselves against the Communist Chinese that are infiltrating our country”. What a load of crap.
Democracy typically doesn’t turn into autocracy overnight. It just declines, as the daylight of transparency and accountability is blocked out, and we’re left with nothing but darkness.
We can’t let Ford get away with this.
“People have to be reassured when they text me: it’s going to be confidential,” Premier Ford defends changes to FOI rules that will keep his records & conversations secret.
But critics warn: Ontarians are being kept in the dark about how billions of taxpayer dollars are spent.
