Our volunteers and staff put themselves at huge risk during Covid-19, one of our staff died in the first wave. They are public servants of the highest calibre, providing lifeline social support and food to older people in need #SaveGlasgowFoodTrain
👇over 4,500 people have signed our petition, if you’ve a couple minutes to spare, please RT and sign, older people across #Glasgow desperately need your help #SaveGlasgowFoodTrain
👇thanks for all your support, 3600+ signature is an amazing start, older people across the city need us to make their voices heard, they are genuinely fearful of starving, we are asking @GCHSCP and @GlasgowCC to work together and support @FoodTrainScot in the city
For almost 10 yrs @FoodTrainScot has made 67,000+ vital deliveries of food and meals to older people at home in Glasgow, helping them live at home, yet @GlasgowCC have axed our funding and @GCHSCP don't view our service as worth funding #SaveGlasgowFoodTrain
Hi @AnasSarwar as you have seen 1st hand the food support provision @FoodTrainScot provides is crucial. Due to no continued funding from Glasgow CC our Glasgow branch will be closing in weeks. This best practice should be rolling out across Scotland not closing!
Can you help?
please sign this petition to save @FoodTrainScot providing vital food access to the older people of #Glasgow If we don't do it, who will? One of our members said today without us they will just die, another said, they would starve. @GCVSHealthCare https://t.co/fWBumLX9Js
Huge thanks @IanGCVS speaking up for third sector across #Glasgow, how lumping everyone into one fund is harmful and also urging @GlasgowCC@GCHSCP to urgently resolve funding for @FoodTrainScot
Thanks @Glasgow_Times this mornings front page highlighting what’s facing our older members in Glasgow if Councillors agree recommendations to axe funding for @FoodTrainScot
Thanks @ScotExpress for highlighting the possible closure of our Glasgow Food Train branch, leaving our older members distressed and fearing they will starve, we urge @GlasgowCC to overturn this recommendation at tomorrows meeting
@GlasgowCC are planning to leave 400 vulnerable, older people in Glasgow without food access when they scrap @FoodTrainScot funding tomorrow. This is hearbreaking and can't be allowed to happen! Please email Glasgow Councillors 🙏 https://t.co/Q52Zw61juh

Our older members agree Anna, they tell us our services help them eat better, reduce their risk of falls, feel less lonely, our #Volunteers are like family. We have members in every corner of Glasgow, they are distressed and fearful today @GlasgowCC
Since we opened in Glasgow in 2013, our amazing #Volunteers have made over 67,000 deliveries of fresh food, meals and groceries to older people in every neighborhood across the city, playing a huge role helping older people live well at home
There are hundreds of older people distressed at this news, with no alternative support in place, worrying about how they will get food if we are forced to close in March, people who are housebound, people with dementia, people with no one else local to help them
Talking with Food Train's managers today, we're facing tough choices as we struggle to keep pace with rising costs. What an inspiring group! Strength, togetherness, leadership and deep determination to succeed for our members #Humbled
Care at home visits predominantly happen at meal times ie. breakfast, lunch and tea time, food within social care cannot go unmentioned in our new #NationalCareService, nutrition is fundamental to our wellbeing #FoodIsCare
