@thinkiamsad I only had it for a few months, but it really did a number on a lot of people, especially where they used it longer. Was especially bad for my profoundly dyslexic husband, he still spells everything phonetically.

@thinkiamsad There was a phonics based reading program used in the late 60s - everything written phonetically. They yanked it in my school in less than 2 years. Disaster. Everyone I know who learned to read using it cannot spell to this day and has trouble with punctuation.
