@the_ason They are just making things up. The Dutch at least like to buy bread on sale and keep it in the freezer so itโs just like fresh after a quick thaw.
@oliveegger Same. I always had a few close female friends but was definitely not one of the popular girls and they made sure I knew it. The boys never were nearly as hurtful.
The nice thing about being older is I just donโt care anymore.
This conversation is distressing.
When I was in my late teens/early 20s I worked full time and went to college at night which meant taking the subway at night. I was never assaulted but was often harassed, and there was never a more welcome sight than a transit cop on my car. The people who donโt get this need to hop down from Planet Privilege and talk to some real working class people.
@erictyrellxxx@RudeOnion Great if you have multiple arms like an octopus and enjoy centering your free time around shopping and errands.
My location has nothing within 500m but a crappy snack bar. The clean, nice supermarkets with a good selection are, alas, located outside the city itself.
I live in a city and have none of these things without walking to several scattered locations. Also, I have only two arms which places restrictions on how much can be bought on a single trip. My preferred supermarket is completely inaccessible.
I have lived in walkable big cities, small cities along with car dependent suburbs and rural areas. Carless has been without question the poorest quality of life with an infinite number of restrictions on available options.
@LudditeHacker If the left had actual empathy as in being able to experience the world from the perspective of others, they would be rioting to demand the borders be closed.
Right. At the moment I am carless and walk past only one supermarket on my way back from work. It is small and not where I prefer to do regular shopping. The best supermarkets are completely out of reasonable walking range, and everything must be purchased in very small quantities which is far more expensive. I grew up like this and moving to a rural area felt like I died and went to heaven.
Walkable communities only really excel when it comes to going out to bars at night. No risk of a DUI.
@kathyf That is the best of all worlds but very rare in the US. I did experience while living in Montpelier, VT, but even in Vermont itโs not common.
Thank you! Sharing with my son who just finished a course in comparative constitutional law. He says the US constitution is the only one which recognises the relationship between the state and the individual in adversarial terms. European constitutions see the role of the state as benevolent overlord bestowing certain rights on a very conditional basis.
The West has created an utterly evil state religion where an accusation of โracismโ is the gravest offense that can be committed, even worse than rape or murder!
So if police show up at a crime scene and a British boy is bleeding out and an immigrant says the British boy is racist the cops will cuff the dying British boy.
@Empty_America These are Joe Rogan fans. I know a very similar couple who even named one of their sons Rogan.
They also like Bernie Sanders AND Ron Paul.
America is truly a vast land full of wonders.
@xwanyex This. I love long distance walking and walk over 14,000 steps a day just on average. But being forced to carry heavy groceries on a regular basis is not good for my back nor is it an efficient use of my time.
