Dropping public COVID precautions in order to "get back to normal" is a luxury the healthy have at the expense of the vulnerable and is not how we should "learn to live with COVID"
“We need to get ‘back to normal’ for everyone’s mental health,” they insisted while expecting high-risk groups to stay home indefinitely without a shred of mental health support.
An excellent article about the immorality and danger of centering our COVID response around maximizing the freedom of the healthy over caring for the vulnerable.
@Chaplain_Billx Create accessible pulpits and altars. Unconscionable that the church advocated to be excluded from the ADA and is now one of the least accommodating institutions in our country. And seems to be ignorant of its ableism.
From the above article: "As of May 1, 2021, CDC transitioned from monitoring all reported vaccine breakthrough cases to focus on identifying and investigating only hospitalized or fatal cases due to any cause."
It's important to know that the CDC is only tracking breakthrough cases that result in hospitalization and death. https://t.co/EdYzJLXb2V
So the tiny percentage of reported breakthrough cases exclude the asymptomatic, sick-at-home and even long COVID.
Hearing about COVID breakthru infections but seeing today that vaccines are still REALLY good against Delta, it's easy to think "if it's so good, why are breakthrus happening?"
Here's how I talk to patients about "how does someone get an infection."
I call it "Virus Balls🦠."🧵⬇️
*Ahem* PSA: I (fully vaccinated person) tested postive for Covid-19 on July 7. I attended a few Pride events, one of which was indoors and vaccine required
Breakthrough, crossover, whatever you want to call it, IS happening. It's not "exceedingly rare," as I was led to believe.
@BeingCharisBlog The Washington Post: Opinion | Holding the Tokyo Olympics amid the covid pandemic threat is about corporate revenue, not the athletes.

@GavinNewsom@dianabutlerbass It's not a good day for all those for whom vaccines don't work - a population that has been ignored and is being sacrificed in this move to return to "normal."
We are sacrificing vulnerable people on the altar of our individual rights. "What is America’s goal—to end the pandemic, or to suppress it to a level where it mostly plagues communities that privileged individuals can ignore?" @edyong209: https://t.co/7vllIFVBDn
@scottagunn I'm wearing a mask indoors for the foreseeable future. there are too many immunocompromised people for whom the vaccine is ineffective who are being left out of consideration.
Robert E. Lee's reputation at West Point underwent a decades-long rehabilitation. Here's how it happened and what should be done now. https://t.co/SwmSvLmqrB
@TheRileyD @BeingCharisBlog Iona, TEC has not addressed ableism in any meaningful way. Regardless of what the canons say, it really depends on the biases of the bishop and all the gatekeepers along the way. I would be happy to talk with you about your process offline and offer support.
All these folx saying disability makes Chump a bad leader like,
"Oh, I didn't realize the entire disabled community was watching me substitute 'disabled' for 'awful human.'"
...and then digging their heels deeper into ableism when we call them on it.
