@__phiphou__@MacLesggy This is like suggesting you are on a low-fat diet based just on what you eat for breakfast. What matters is all energy not electricity alone.
@AndrewPerpetua Thank you for your painstaking work. Can you find a couple of minutes to explain to the less initiated, what are the key takeaways pls.
@renewablesmiffy I have reread. After your history lesson, you conclude it is almost certain that renewables will be foreign-owned and foreign manufactured. So @afneil ‘tabloid tropes’ that renewables will create jobs in China, not in the UK as this government contends, is apparently spot-on.
@AndrewPerpetua Say I might have to unsubscribe Andrew—you are too obscure/oblique. I don’t understand what you think. I need the occasional big picture take from you. Tell the uninitiated what your detailed painstaking analysis is telling you
@rahmstorf As you well know, time is not running out. Time has run out. Twenty years ago, scientists said time was running out. Now we need to move to adaptation and geo-engineering
@PJTheEconomist@Frencheconomics And what about the amount of wealth high earners retained after tax? Why do you never look at that figure? The earnings of the wealthy have grown faster than the median worker, so it is normal they contribute a bigger share.
@DanNeidle@JohnJen96660941 This chart shows tax as % of GDP. We should question this ubiquitous metric. Wealth has increased more than GDP in recent years. Anyone owning property or shares has benefited. I would like to see tax as a percentage of national wealth. That would tell a different story.
@nicolasfulghum@atrupar This chart does not help me decide whether solar is relevant or irrelevant in winter. I would need to know what percentage of US winter demand is met by solar
@ojblanchard1 I am not an economist. I find it quite extraordinary that top economists cannot agree on something seemingly basic as PPP vs exchange rates! Economic academic papers obfuscate with useless abstruse mathematics, but when it comes to basic concepts economists throw up their hands
@TruthSentinel1@afneil I don’t agree with ad hominem attacks. However if you @TruthSentinel1 choose to argue like this, we have the right to know your CV so we can weigh up relative levels of experience, responsibility and societal impact between the two of you.
@robin_j_brooks@lugaricano@paulkrugman You have been spectacularly and impressively correct so far, after 3 months of the crisis. But too early to declare victory—according to the oil analysts. Let’s see what market does in late June/July amid very low storage inventories.
