Polavaram - a name every person from Andhra has heard for more than a decade.

Yesterday, something truly historic happened. 🇮🇳🌊

Godavari waters finally reached North Andhra through the Polavaram Left Main Canal.

For years, Polavaram was a dream, a promise and a project that seemed to take forever. Yesterday, we saw one of its most important milestones become a reality. A 213-km engineering marvel, built through the Eastern Ghats with tunnels, aqueducts and siphons, is now carrying Godavari water towards North Andhra. (The New Indian Express)

The first phase alone is expected to benefit 2.87 lakh acres of agriculture and provide drinking water to 5.23 lakh people. (The New Indian Express)

For Andhra, this is much more than a canal carrying water. It is about irrigation, agriculture, drinking water and the hope of transforming an entire region.

A moment every Telugu person can be proud of. ❤️🌊

Polavaram is no longer just a name we have been hearing for years. We can now see its impact on the ground.

HISTORIC! A 30-year dream is finally turning into flowing water.

Today, for the first time, Krishna waters are passing through the Veligonda tunnel - a moment generations of people in this drought-hit region have waited to see.

Thirty years ago, @ncbn garu laid the foundation for this transformational project. Tomorrow, he will dedicate Phase-I to the people and release 10.7 TMC of water into Nallamala Sagar. In Phase-I alone, Veligonda will bring irrigation to 1.19 lakh acres and drinking water to nearly 4 lakh people.

Watching the first waters emerge from the tunnel today is deeply emotional. This is more than an engineering achievement. It is a long-awaited lifeline for our farmers, our families and an entire region.

Veligonda Jalasirulu - truly, wings to development.

Their leader @ysjagan gives him a clean chit saying: the proceeds would be “at most ₹2 crore.” Didn’t know the @YSRCParty had imposed a MSP (Minimum Scam Price) on corruption - only above 2 crores can be prosecuted! 😂🙏
