@benadamx@mcmansionhell Yes, discovery is basically nonexistent there. But I like that I've got a record of the photos I took that I don't mind being on the internet. The things I make don't have to reach escape velocity.
@benadamx@mcmansionhell I put so little thought into how I upload, as well. I develop and scan my film, so I just export entire rolls at once (the images are named as the shot they were on the roll).
@benadamx@mcmansionhell I still upload to flickr. I love the albums, tagging, and that they don't mess with the images after/during upload. Also I personally find the export directly from Lightroom critical.
@beauwatson@RobertSecundus I refer to him as "Dan Brown Dan Brown" in my head because when he called the store to schedule something and I told the owner, that's how we clarified which Dan Brown it was.
@erin_bartram @Dr_Donegan As a New Haven resident who is a full time pedestrian, I don't trust a single car in this city, and am beyond ready for the red light cameras.
@erin_bartram @Dr_Donegan My mother got hit on her bike by an uninsured driver when I was in high school, so I get it (she's OK). NH oddity is certainly a hole that you can get lost in. I blame a lot of it on the absurdly large House of Reps, which is one of the largest governing bodies on the planet.
@Dr_Donegan @erin_bartram That said, I do feel like there is a time honored tradition of New England states judging drivers from other New England states. For some reason the phrase "in New Hampshire we drive with courtesy" is stuck in my brain, but this is in relation to Mass drivers.
@Dr_Donegan @erin_bartram NH in the 90s and 00s as well and CT was always considered part of New England. There's literally a river with it's name separating two NE states.
@LangeAlexandra That sounds amazing! My dad was a woodworker as his first career and has returned to it in retirement. I expect that eventually the dining table will be surrounded by his one-off chairs, like a tiny living museum. The first is a Jennie Alexander he made in the 80s.
@mcmansionhell These are what my bookshelves look like, but they are at least a real wood center with an oakish veneer. They are sturdy and I've since learned the retailer needs to specify the wood species to be the hardwood I really desire.
@mattzollerseitz I will say that the Yale Film Archive free 35mm screenings are extremely cool, but you've just got one specific time slot in which to see the movie.
@mattzollerseitz For me it is entirely #2. Only first run theater in the city of New Haven closed last year. I don't have a car, so now rely on friends picking me up for a showing in the suburbs. Previously I could decide half an hour before a movie started and walk there.
