While I’m on a role, these are the things I offer as advice for making decisions on where your kid should play.
1. Convenience-(close to home)
2. Coaching-(good people w/right intentions)
3. Development-(process over results)

"I don't think our kids know how to fail today.
They don't know how to struggle.
We, the parents, have bailed them out of everything.
Failure is good sometimes.
Failure brings about an internal drive."

“If you do too much for your children, you are increasing your self-esteem by stealing theirs.”
Let them struggle. Let them figure it out.

"The work is the reward - not being recognized for the work." @TeamCoachBuzz
Players and teams that work hard are rewarded with opportunities to work even harder.
Relentless never rests.
Champions don’t need recognition.
They need the next challenge.
PARENTS: Scouts cross the names of good hockey players off their list because of your behavior. That’s a fact. The next time you want to go off, remember that.
We talk all about it in our latest episode 🗣️

Let students fail. Failure should be an option. If students pass with inadequate skillsets, they'll be unprepared for what comes next. They'll be unprepared for more schooling, and they'll be unprepared for life outside school. #onted#edchat#cdned

For all the youth hockey players out there…
This one decision you'll have to make over the next decade or so will be the most important decision if you're going to reach your potential and achieve your dreams or not.
That decision?
Who are the people that you're choosing to surround yourself with?
Choosing your friends when you're a young hockey player is so massively important. I've seen some incredibly talented players choose the wrong people to be in their inner circle and they don't even get close to reaching their potential. I've also seen some less talented players be surrounded by great people and it's brought out the best in them and they've ended up getting as close to their potential as humanly possible.
Who are your friends? Who's in your inner circle?
I tell kids all the time when I do my culture building…
Having met so many kids as a former college coach, knowing their story and seeing their progression through their hockey journey, if you put me in a room with your 5 best friends I'll be able to tell you with almost a 100 percent certainty if you're going to reach your potential or not.
That’s no joke.
That’s how important I believe choosing the right friends is to achieving your goals and dreams.
Choose wisely.
