During rounds yesterday, non-responsive end-of-life nonagenarian in our #LTC home on SC hydromorphone ATC started waving her shoulders and arms up in the air after the recreational therapist played Cuban music for her as her son instructed.
We all watched in awe!

@RicharLisa Didn't occur often, but I recall saying once, "The Chief of Staff has authority to discharge this patient, but my duty is to the patient, not to the hospital." The patient was allowed to stay. I was a locum at that time (1980s!), or might have eventually felt repercussions!
