Oxford Union President Arwa Elrayess has been exposed as a radical Islamist who hailed Hamas as “heroes” and called the October 7th massacre “proportionate.”
This after her predecessor George Abaraonye celebrated Charlie Kirk’s assassination.
The Union is a complete disgrace.
I'm seeing a lot of posts about the council on antisemitism that @MarkJCarney announced this week, and I wanted to clarify something.
The Canadian PM, despite making a statement on antisemitism, in which he felt the need to reference transphobia and Islamophobia, did NOT put together a council on antisemitism.
He created the Ministerial Advisory Council on Rights, Equality and Inclusion.
If he was serious about ending Jew-hatred in Canada, he would have made a statement to the country, from Parliament.
If he was serious about ending Jew-hatred in Canada, he would have assembled a Council with the mandate of fighting Jew-hatred in Canada.
If he was serious about ending Jew-hatred in Canada, he would have assembled a Council that did not contain people accused of antisemitic actions.
If he was serious about ending Jew-hatred in Canada, he would have taken action well before now.
He is not serious about ending Jew-hatred in Canada.
And he continues to show us that he's not.
Back in late 2023, CBC News interviewed a teenage girl, Amelie North, who told them that she and her friends had used diverted “safer supply” hydromorphone. CBC then censored any mention of safer supply diversion when reporting on her story — I know this because Amelie was one of my journalistic sources.
To put it this way: the CBC was so committed to defending the Liberals’ safer supply experiment that they essentially lied to Canadians — including parents with vulnerable children — about the dangers of diversion. They put kids at risk for the sake of their partisan agenda.
And now they have the audacity to present themselves as a bulwark against disinformation.
[You can read my article about it for more details: https://t.co/0IBCy7op6n]
My sister's friend sent me this video of her being assaulted on the NYC subway yesterday after being told "Jews eat kids."
After the video cut, the assailant began pulling the victim's hair out as well. (I can send media the pics).
Our Islamist Mayor has praised terrorists like the Holy Land Five and refuses to condemn calls for terrorism in America. so there's no expectation the Islamist will help.
I'm therefore asking the DOJ and FBI to investigate and ensure ALL Americans are safe from more pro-Palestinian attacks.
This doesn’t reflect well on you @holyblossom
As proud as you may be to have @EvanLSolomon and extended family as members, I suggest you pause. And think.
The term “Judenrat” comes to mind.
@VivianBercovici@EvanLSolomon No Liberal MPs besides Marco Mendocino (who was removed from cabinet for being pro-Israel) and Housefather have visited Israel in the last 5 years. The pro-Hamas pro-terror Lib MPs Zuberi Khalid Al Sound Saini Rana did visit Palestinian Authority though
You know what’s odd @EvanLSolomon ?
Mister AI hasn’t even bothered to visit Israel. Something of an AI stronghold. No. You’ve been busy pretending Qatar is the future of AI.
Nobody is fooled, Evan. But you may be making a fool of yourself. Some friendly advice from your fave “reactionary.”
You diabolical liar.
You put Omar Alghabra on an antisemitism committee. He is antisemitic in the extreme.
He lobbied to remove Hamas and Hezbollah from Canada's terrorist list.
He stands with the murderers of Jews.
That is who you have appointed, you utter disgrace.
I'm prepared to go to jail over this.
My grandmother Rita Pete went to St. Mary's Indian Residential School. She experienced terrible abuse. As a consequence, she struggled with alcohol use most of her life.
My mother was born with FASD as a consequence of her using alcohol to cope with her trauma.
I am Chief of my community Chawathil First Nation. I am working to address the longstanding impacts of these past policies through renovating homes, building new homes, creating childcare, and growing businesses through economic development.
I have interviewed people who went to Indian Residential Schools. I have interviewed people who believe Indian Residential Schools were awful, horrible schools, meant to remove the Indian from the child.
I've also interviewed people who believe they were well intended, generous investments by Canadian taxpayers meant to assimilate a society and had shortcomings.
Like with many things, the history is dark, complicated, and with any policy that existed for a long time, across a whole country - there were different experiences.
No one story tells us everything. No report shares the full experience of the individuals who went. No commentator today can disprove someone's lived experience with statistics.
The path forward is not to criminalize speech, questions, or debate.
The path forward is empathy for past attendees.
The path forward is truth based on facts.
The path forward is real conversations.
The path forward is to lean into complexity.
If the government criminalizes this, then I will be a criminal for having these conversations.
If I am a criminal by the laws definition, then I am committed to going to jail over this.
Pierre Poilievre "I remember Mr. Alghabra lobbying me before he was in politics to keep Hezbollah legal, so I'm not sure that he's the right guy to combat anti Semitism." @PierrePoilievre
“OK, so he’s an abusive lowlife Nazi, but he’s MY abusive lowlife Nazi and I am sticking by him... and we will win big! How else could we defeat the evil colossus that is Susan Collins, if we don't have a Nazi on our side?”
I am sure Schumer’s book on Jew-hate is quite a read.
Now that Carney included Omar Alghabra in the Council for combating antisemitism, it is time for a quick resume:
Omar Alghabra was born in Saudi Arabia to a Syrian family, immigrated to Canada in the 1980s, but brought his virulent antisemitism with him as luggage. Upon his arrival, he worked for CAF (Canadian Arab Federation) – a group so antisemitic that their federal funding was taken away by the court.
For nearly 20 years Alghabra has been almost consistently elected to the Canadian Parliament. He held various positions, such as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Trade Diversification.
At the same time, he often stated that Hamas and Hezbollah are not terrorist organizations and should be removed from the Canadian terrorist entities list. He tried to censor Canadian journalists, who call Hamas a terrorist organization. Alghabra publicly mourned Yasser Arafat. In his Arabic interview he expressed disappointment that Canadian Muslims are insufficiently vocal in demanding Sharia law in Canada.
Alghabra called the Toronto officials to boycott Jewish charity events and opposed the collaboration between the Canadian police force and Israeli anti-terrorist units (obviously, if you don’t consider Hamas and Hezbollah – terrorists, no anti-terrorist work is required either).
Even following the October 7 massacre, even when directly questioned, Alghabra refused to condemn Hamas, but he uses every opportunity to label Israel “brutal and cruel.”
I wonder who the rest of the Council members are.
Very simply, a PM wanting to take pervasive antisemitism seriously and make Jews feel like they have a place in Canada could have:
Agreed that his Party has spent nearly 11 years driving wedges into that "civic compact"
Reminded all Canadians who walk on our soil that demonization, delegitimization, and double standards cannot be normalized or rationalized within our borders and this compact comes with a moral duty of a nation to protect all its inhabitants from hate, intimidation, and aggression.
Declared an end to false moral equivalencies in Middle East policy
Revoked the funding and charitible status of all organizations tied to terrorism (including UNRWA) and banned terrorist groups effective immediately; and
Declared that he will visit Israel where Canada has considerable investment and trade ties including a free trade agreement (he's the only G7 leader who hasn't since Oct 7 and, in fact, no Liberal Prime Minister has visited Israel since Jean Chretien in 2000.)
He did none of those things.
He continued with the performative theatrics.
That he did so in a synagogue located within, and in close proximity with, two of Canada's largest Jewish concentration ridings rather than inside Parliament where the message would be telegraphed to Canadians from coast to coast to coast is both telling and yet another sign of demographics taking precedence over principles.
Let's repeat this right here - more funding and more laws won't help when existing anti-hate laws aren't enforced. Jews are 1% of Canada's population but ⅔ of hate crime targets. Synagogues and Jewish schools and institutions now need armed guards and bulletproof walls and windows in Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver and are still being attacked by haters.
The government already has an IHRA antisemitism handbook it claims to recognize. It can actually implement that instead of more "studies", "councils" and "whole-of-government strategies."
Carney says the civic compact is failing Jewish Canadians? Does he really believe that the haters even know what this "civic compact" is when they're burning Canadian flags and damaging constituency offices? Does his causus (including his so-called "Jewish caucus")? When he has MPs posing with criminally charged haters and with or under terrorist flags, does that not violate this compact?
Sir, your concept of a covenant is failing all Jewish Canadians. And all civil-minded Canadians of conscience. You have, yet again, displayed that you have no interest at all in changing that.
We simply cannot have unserious people handle serious issues. It's enough.
