The obvious right wing solution to Britain’s immigration problem is to make the UK a very easy place to move with a high income (e.g. fast decision-making, simplified paperwork, concierge-style service, welcoming rhetoric about world’s ’best and brightest’) and very difficult to move to with a low income (e.g. salary requirements, fees, limit family visas). If you really want to cap numbers, use a price-based mechanism like an auction to determine allocation. It really need not be that more complicated.
