🚨Manchester City have successfully overturned a major UEFA punishment before.

In 2020, UEFA imposed a two-season ban from European club competitions and a €30 million fine on City following allegations of serious breaches of its Financial Fair Play regulations.

City appealed the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). In July 2020, CAS overturned the two-year European ban, finding that there was insufficient conclusive evidence to uphold all of UEFA’s conclusions, while also noting that several alleged breaches were time-barred under UEFA’s five-year limitation period. The fine was reduced to €10 million.

That previous victory is relevant when considering City’s current legal battle, although the two cases are separate and involve different rules, allegations and proceedings.

That meeting came around the same time Football Leaks showed Infantino had already held private talks with City over FFP.

Leaked 2018 documents showed he was involved in secret meetings and settlement terms.

The story has returned after Manchester City’s guilty verdict on 114 of 115 Premier League charges, with UEFA now under fresh scrutiny.

PL referee Michael Oliver was paid £20,000 to officiate a UAE Pro League match in Abu Dhabi in September 2023.

The PGMOL approved the trip.

The league is owned by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), which is state-owned.
