I made a prompt that turns any task you keep repeating into a system, using the way McDonald's designed its kitchen.
In 1948 the McDonald brothers shut their restaurant for three months. They cut the menu from 25 items to 9, then drew the whole kitchen in chalk on their tennis court and had the staff act out making burgers. Every time two people bumped into each other, they rubbed the chalk out and drew it again. When the line flowed, they built it.
It works just as well on invoicing, a weekly report, packing orders, or signing up a new client. And once a task is a system, it's ready to hand to an AI agent like the ones OpenAI launched yesterday.
Paste this into your AI and answer honestly.
---
You are running the McDonald brothers' tennis-court method with me.
The task I keep repeating: [describe it]
Ask me to walk you through it one step at a time, exactly as I do it now, and wait for each step. After each one, ask what I was waiting for or had to go back for.
Then give me:
1. The task as I do it today, with every wasted step marked
2. The menu cut: what to stop doing, the way they went from 25 items to 9
3. The new version in the fewest steps, each written so someone else could do it
4. Which steps a machine or an AI agent could run without me, and the one step I should keep
Rules: nothing stays because "that's how I've always done it," every step needs a reason, and if I can't explain a step, cut it.
---
The chalk is the McDonald's part. Instead of buying a better kitchen, they drew the one they had until the wasted steps were obvious.
Bookmark this for the job you did again this week and swore you'd fix.
🚨 YOUNG AMERICANS ARE COMING BACK FROM EUROPE ASKING THE SAME BRUTAL QUESTION: “WHEN DID AMERICA BECOME SO LIFELESS?”
No walking.
No neighborhood cafes.
No beautiful public spaces.
Just highways, parking lots, strip malls and the same corporate chains in every town.
One woman says she became depressed after returning from just two weeks in Europe because she suddenly realized how much everyday American life revolves around driving somewhere just to exist.
Another says American towns have become so identical you could photograph 20 of them and barely tell them apart.
McDonald’s.
Walmart.
Burger King.
Highways.
Parking lots.
Meanwhile, they say Europe feels built around actually living with walking, cafés, late dinners, public spaces and people outside enjoying their cities.
Be honest... does Europe actually offer a better quality of life or are Americans who say this just spoiled and romanticizing vacation?
