I am back everyone. Sorry I have been away for a while-have had a few physical health conditions to deal with and unfortunately am currently dealing with an OCD relapse and really not very well at the minute due to my OCD.
@Sam198247235291 Hello everyone, really hope you are all ok. Sorry for my silence on here for a while...had an OCD lapse with lots of compulsions which I am struggling to contain.
@JacobPeoplee It's the most beautiful part of the world but just beware of The Open golf tournament this Summer in Portrush as accommodation prices will probably soar near the time.
@_AnxietyJosh Thanks for this-sometimes I have to remember that the best form of self care I can actually give myself is to get comfortable with the discomfort as that is where recovery lies and that is itself is self care.
Question: For those of you with severe OCD and/or eating disorders, what are your views on getting a Smartwatch with step counter, fitness tracker etc?
Following on from my post a few days ago I decided that I am not going to purchase a smart watch. Thank you to everyone who replied to me.
In the end I decided it would be too much fuel for my OCD and thoughts around food/exercise.
My decision was bolstered by reading this 👇:
I’m in The Times today talking about the dangers of fitness trackers for people who are vulnerable to exercise addiction and eating disorders:

@AlioOrland Thanks so much for taking the time to reply Alison-I definitely feel you are right in what you are saying and I have decided that getting one would be a wrong move in move in my recovery.
@KrazyCat85 Thanks so much for replying Jess. It is really useful to hear how detrimental a smart watch was for you and I definitely have decided it wouldn't be a healthy choice for me.
@LindaLaHughes9 Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. I didn't know that about the B vitamins-it is definitely something I will look into now that you have mentioned it. Thank you for letting me know.
@RedIsND Thanks so much for taking the time to reply and for being definitive-that really does strike a chord with me because I know what you are saying is definitely right. Getting this watch will end up being an absolute disaster for my mind!
@fivestarfrogs Thanks so much for taking the time to reply Laura-I definitely think it would be too much of a trigger and would serve to deepen my thoughts and worries around food. That is good advice you have given me.
@MeganMo2002 Thanks so much for replying Megan-yes I definitely think it would be too much of a trigger for me and would not serve any real benefit to me.
@acerbictwitt Thanks so much for replying-I am so glad to hear that you were able to get benefit out of the smart watch and it was a healthy addition to your life.
