Pale death awaits Syrians if they speak up; their destiny is in a grave somewhere unknown.
It is no more a question of democracy because @PresidentBAssad failed in every way, but rather a matter of humanity.
Assad must go.
There is a deliberate attempt to replace March 15-18 with December 8, claiming that the day Assad fled should mark the revolution's success.
This isn’t merely symbolic but a calculated effort to halt the revolution before it achieves its full objectives.
Had Assad fallen and been replaced in 2011, the revolution wouldn’t have ended then, and it shouldn’t end now. The Syrian people have yet to secure even the freedom of association, including the right to form political parties, which remains dependent on a pending law.
Let alone all the other freedoms essential to democracy:
- Freedom of Speech
- Freedom of the Press
- Freedom of Assembly
- Freedom of Association
- Freedom of Religion
- Freedom to Vote and Participate in Government
- Freedom from Arbitrary Arrest and Oppression
We will, of course, celebrate the day the butcher fell, but reducing the Syrian revolution to Assad's will is an insult to all who rose demanding freedom, dignity, and equality.
What is going on among Syrians is giving whataboutism:
- Those who are committing crimes and killing innocent civilians must be jailed!
- What about pro-Assad forces?
- People are still being killed in the newly freed Syria!
- What about those who died throughout the past 14yrs?
This Syrian man in Germany is celebrating on Tiktok the killing of the Alawites in Syria: Throw them in the sea and feed them to the fish.
He posts on Tiktok under the name: @ abode(dot)al(dot)mohmad. He refers to himself in his bio as "the German".
I translated this clip:
Both the Syrian Foreign and Women's Affairs Ministers paid their respects to the security forces killed in the coastal region, yet made no mention of the Syrian civilians murdered in cold blood.
How does this even make sense?
It’s as if they don’t even see them as their own.
I just was in touch with an Alawite man in coastal Syria. He is hiding in an apartment because outside there are armed men moving around. His father and other male family members were killed earlier today, about five hours ago.
We communicate via Facebook messenger. He types because he is scared the gunmen might hear him in case we would talk over the phone. I know his name and in which city he is. But as he currently is in big danger, obviously I cannot mention his name, nor his whereabouts.
He explained to me what happened today. Armed men are roaming around town. They enter buildings. Take all the Alawite men to the roof and shoot them on the spot.
He says: "They behave like ISIS. They have a sheikh (religious leader) with them and because we are Alawites this sheikh will immediately and on the spot issue a verdict declaring people kufar and that it is allowed to kill us."
He is now hiding in an apartment. All the people in the apartment where his family lives were killed today.
He wrote me: "I can't write a lot to you because I am hiding, these groups are still around. They are stealing cars, gold etc. They go door to door."
Then he was off-line for a while. Then he got back online. He wrote me: "I don't know the name of the sheikh who is with the gunmen".
He continued: "The building where my family lives consists of twelve apartments. Eight (Alawite) families were killed. One Sunni family and one Ismaili family were not killed. Also, two Christian families were not killed."
Now he is off-line again.

Very worrisome this. For the second day in a row, I am receiving messages from people whose family members in Syria either have already been killed yesterday or this morning or are in hiding fearing they might get killed any moment.
Killings are continuing for a SECOND day in a row.
Chechen and Uyghur jihadists roaming the streets of the city of Baniyas, especially in the mainly Alawite neighborhoods of Al Qusoor and Al Murooj. Everywhere armed men are roaming around. Nobody knows who they exactly are. Syrian fighters, foreign jihadists. One man said to me: "Nobody is stopping them [armed men], they go from house to house from shop to shop. The first question they ask is: Are you Alawite or Sunni? Everybody is extremely worried for his or her safety."
There are also reports of continuing killings and harassments of Alawites in coastal Jableh and its surrounding. And in Hama's countryside, especially in the Masyaf area.
Jihadists just entered Duraykish, a mainly Alawite town 30 kms from Tartous. Citizens are terrified. Phones are getting confiscated - to check the content and to make it impossible for people to contact the outside world.
People I speak to tell me: "Where is the state? Who is going to protect us? If the violence yesterday was "spontaneous", why then is it continuing for a second day and on such a large scale?"
Also, people complain there are no international NGOs on the ground, no international media. "Please help us," desperate people tell me over the phone or via whatsapp. They all sound very desperate.
The moment I receive more information, I will update throughout the day.
