A must-read for US-based PIs by @nciss_assoc's Matt Spaier. Public records restrictions are real and becoming more painful by the day! https://t.co/WYtxSTvMGr
This year's #FOIAFest in Chicago (3/21) is shaping up to be great: A day of nerding out about Freedom of Information Act requests, kicking off with "#FOIA Terrorist" @JasonLeopold https://t.co/hLyms8GzMN
Having a productive locating relevant Subreddits and mining posts with a combo or Search Whisperer and Ai Research Pilot. Thank you @henkvaness! #DDsubscriber
@MattWelch RIP, I only have lovely memories of Kevin. He would treat hot-button questions with characteristic clarity and openness, and straightforward charts. Not long ago: 'Is America still the land of opportunity?' Answer:'It's not too bad!' https://t.co/oLa4B7PbXm
With the still high-trafficked @DRUDGE Report utilizing https://t.co/k0vnBxgR8Y to link to articles usually behind a paywall, I'm getting a tad anxious about this amazing resource staying around for #OSINTers
Great sessions this afternoon at the @SANSDefense#OSINTSummit with @osintmillennial sharing hands-on tips gleaned on the job, followed by a captivating presentation by @tonylturner on stylometry for software, basically, reviewing the code for clues to trace its origins.
What's not to love about Sean Conover's closing remarks at @SANSInstitute#OSINTSummit: "You have to meet people where they are and not where you want them to be". (Yes, and that means Discord.) Also: "Meet them where they are not where they want you to be."
...and the award for classiest conference swag goes to @epieos for no less than their own branded champagne. Trying out their professional tool yesterday put me in a celebratory mood as it jump started a case I was stuck on. Very powerful tool! Congrats fellow compatriots!
Day 2 of the @SANSInstitute#OSINTSummit right now with a fascinating talk by Sean Conover on the history of strategic mining gaming and entertainment platforms for OSINT. The intergeneration learning here is fantastic (says this GenXer)
Having a great time already at the #OSINTSummit, being challenged by Andrew "the Swede" Borene ("If you're only looking at what's easy to see, you're already behind"π€) & learning from the best @matt0177@nixintel. Thrilling to meet the @epieos crew from the Motherland in person!
Kicking off the #OSINTSummit, we have Andrew Borene of @FlashpointIntel is sharing the power of #OSINT in todayβs geopolitical landscape.

The remarkable @reclaimtherecords that is the leading force fighting NY public agencies for records access has a plan to fight the AWFUL newly-proposed law about New York State vital records access. We need to act by tomorrow 2/11 https://t.co/W4IKYRXfmW
I'm sorry that the French woman duped by "Brad Pitt" is going through more hell . The common goal should be to lift the shame & encourage others. She said in the itw that she didn't feel "seen" at home; the scammer was "attentive." Lessons can be learned.

"Mommy? What if TikTok is banned and you can't do your job any more?" Luckily, this wouldn't be the end of #OSINT investigators, but I have to say that TikTok is where the goods stuff is in 80% of the personal injury lawsuits I work on. People think they're stealth.
Trying https://t.co/iFaEAMqD9o CE following the presentation at the @skopenow OSINTLive day. The AI tool is pretty impressive: It analyzes photos to ID the location, based on vegetation, architecture, unique details (yellow fire hydrants are found in Chicago etc.)
Public records hero Steve Morse deserves high π for relentlessly acquiring NYS rolls year after year and making data eminently searchable https://t.co/vbR6Kz2USD
September means... the resuming of the Tradesman RICO case re: the epidemic of staged construction falls. I've worked on these. Kudos to insurers for pushing back against corrupt lawyers, docs & gangs recruiting migrants ready to undergo unnecessary spinal surgeries.
This is a really important story. A NY contractors MGA proved massive fraud in accident claims.
Key quote:
βThis is not a one-off Rico case that you file and move on,β said Tradesmanβs lawyer Kirk Willis. βThis is, in our opinion, the biggest insurance fraud ring in America.β
On Wednesday, I look forward to sharing a few #OSINT tips & tricks with members of the Private Investigators Association of Idaho during a webinar on Employment Locates. As in: How do you find out if and where someone work? It can be a puzzle, for sure.
