@canyon_crawler@bowtiedbrazil@socialiststeve6@redpocketaces You’d have to check the pay scale from the year they were hired to have an accurate picture of what they get paid today. The average beginning salary for VA in 1992 was ~33k. https://t.co/yZzJNhlKon
@kleistmeister @janine0826 @socialiststeve6@redpocketaces I think you’re making a lot of assumptions about salary and spending. Teachers don’t make a lot, often have terrible benefits. Housing is insanely high. Inflation. Predatory school loans. It doesn’t have to be this way, but some people don’t like helping others.
@bigoledumb Just because they didn’t need it doesn’t mean they didn’t value it. If they thought it was trash they would’ve tossed it. Instead, they passed it on so someone else could have a turn. We need to be ok with people regifting our gifts.
@Coltonblack15 @bigoledumb Y’all are so judgmental. Not everyone has a decent washing machine. They do get damaged in the machine sometimes (I crochet and knit, so I know). Animals sometimes pee on things leading to laundry. Maybe we need to normalize asking people if they’d like something before giving it
@broderick The reddit api thing is funny bc they’re mad third party apps are making money off them when their whole business model is making money off posters who do it for fun and mods who do it for free
@hankgreen I wish “alternative” medical approaches had always been called complementary medicine. So many lives would’ve been (and be!) saved. So many people would have the treatment AND the support to get through its most challenging side effects. Sharing your experience will save lives.
@sweatystartup HOA is just a neighborhood hall monitor enabling pampered suburban twats to take a pic + write an email to help occupy their soulless Sunday afternoons rather than interact with and/or help out a neighbor whom they ruthlessly compete against in a class-race of material emptiness.
