@barneyfarmer Conrad wasn't the world's greatest optimist and clearly had little faith left after his broken East European upbringing.
I don't recommend reading his work if you want to throw off the blues.
It’s times like last night when we should thank a farmer but should really be thanking those that keep us going during the breakdowns and power issues. Epic work from our Sparky Paul to resurrect a generator and get the cows milked in the wee hours this morning 👌
@organicarable@hanslope@farmerdanb That may help to stabilise prices and make them more predictable but the long term for organic dairy is to find the elusive ingredients to grow and ensile for the winter
@SteveChalke My bible nowhere talks about finding salvation. Salvation is God's idea for restoring mankind and it is enacted by Jesus dying on the cross bringing forgiveness for our sins.
It is has nothing to do with us working together.
@Vince_Rookery@farmerdanb Until we have a reliable science based tool to measure what carbon goes where, everything is guesswork .
As you say, let's get on with the job in hand trying our best to reduce all inputs that might release carbon. Hmm! Does that include breathing?
It is very easy to take a pop at people from a distance. Put yourself in their place and then ask what you might have done differently. My guess is that most of us would have done something similar. Cut the clucking and concentrate on important issues, there are plenty of them.
This beggars belief. If that were you or I we would put our hand up admit we broke the rules. By hiding behind a ministerial guard the issue only compounds itself.
@CConcern@A_Minichiello There are two sides to the coin. More people are logging into web services than come on a regular basis in every church I know. Even so the order to shut all churches is a disgrace and CofE parishes should revolt and take back their rightful ownership of their buildings
Not just UK supermarkets seeing a surge in food demand: why aren’t we having more of this on our own news? Consumers need to recognise #itstartswithag but is also about #foodsecurity and #SupplyChain
Fortunately most farms have perfect isolation solutions for grumpy old timers which look like a large field with a million thistles in and a hoe to pass the time with.
Just you try quarantining my 73yr old father.. good lord the thought fills me with dread. The grizzly old farmer is fitter and stronger than most 50yr olds, I fear for my mother’s sanity 😂
@jameswallis7@farmerdanb That's the bridge where the boys used to go and wash off the underside of their tractors when the tide was in. Saved hours with the ancient washer we had then.
@farmerdanb Unfortunately, or you might say fortunately in this case, promises made to sway voters to any party are seldom carried out in full. This one would lose the country thousands of full time jobs as more people would be on self-employed contracts. The opposite of the desired effect.
@farmerdanb Two lessons from history. The first is never to believe anything you read in the papers and the second is that I tell people to lock me in a soundproof room if I mention growing organically maize, lupins and linseed which all produced megatons of late germinating fat hen.
@JeremyVineOn5 your discussion on meat accepted that meat is harmful to the environment. Actually, good grazing practices restore more carbon to the soil than they take out. There are beneficial and harmful meat production methods and the public should be properly informed
