SUMMER-LIKE PATTERN AHEAD: Look for afternoon highs in the 88-92 degree range across most of Alabama through Wednesday... then backing down slightly in the mid to upper 80s later in the week. Humidity levels will be higher, and the weather will feel like summer.
Any afternoon showers will be very isolated through Tuesday. But, with the approach of a surface front, and a weaker upper ridge, the door is open for a better chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms over the latter half of the week.
Highest coverage of rain will be over the northern half of the state, and the best chance of a shower or storm will come from around 2:00 until 10:00 p.m. Again, very much like summer.
This pattern will continue into the weekend (May 23-24). Very warm, humid, and "scattered, mostly afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms".
During the past decade there has been an increase in surf and rip current fatalities in the United States. Many of these fatalities occur when swells from distant hurricanes cause dangerous surf and rip current conditions along the U.S. coastline. NHC will provide rip current risk information that originates from local NWS Weather Forecast Offices (WFOs) in a national rip current risk map when at least one active tropical system is present.
Wishing everyone a peaceful night.
“God our Father, Maker and lover of peace... give our soldiers strength, courage, and wisdom as they face the challenges of the battlefield. May Your presence be with them always, guiding and shielding them from harm.”
