I have nothing against Vietnamese people as individuals but it’s starting to feel ridiculous when you see news stories nearly everyday in Japan about Vietnamese gangs stealing copper wire, shoplifting, robbing old people, and smuggling drugs.
Japan basically imported over half a million Vietnamese workers in their 20s and 30s from poor provinces in a span of just 10 years. The median age in Japan is 50 years old and frankly many Japanese people are sort of aloof and unused to crime so they’re easy targets for foreign criminals who can organize.
“Security” at many Japanese drugstores (popular shoplifting targets) is often literally just a retired ojisan working part time while collecting a pension. Many old people in Japan also live alone and have assets (numerous stories about old people in Japan living alone in the countryside getting robbed and murdered by Vietnamese as of late)
The good news is that the Vietnamese crime wave we’ve been seeing now may have reached a peak as Vietnam’s supply of extra labor has been likely tapped out due to its rising economy
Kau boleh buang monarki dari sebuah negara, tapi kau tak boleh buang feudalisme dalam sebuah negara.
Malah di negara yang tiada monarkilah lebih ramai pseudomonarki yang lebih bersultan di mata, beraja di hati.
I noticed widespread obesity the two times I was in Malaysia.
1. It’s extremely muggy and hot, like most of SEA, but its infra is super car dependent. So people are either indoors or driving. Minimal walking.
2. Their food is especially calorie dense and heavy thanks to strong Indian cuisine influence.
3. There is not much to do other than dining. Social activities revolve around eating out late at night (mamak).
I know I’d get fat easily if I live there.
@Gonzohall When doing business in Malaysia, you should learn the ways of doing business in Malaysia. Simple as that. He failed spectacularly by escalating an issue that he was cleared for. Threatening the Prime Minister with an an arrogance that people couldn't stand, rightfully so.
No, it really isn’t. NS was explicit in its aim to establish sovereignty over its host country, to which any self-respecting country would be against. More than anything, it shows how global (often white) techbros view this part of the world. Good riddance.
No wonder you’re confused. It didn’t start with anon accounts vilifying the school. It started when the idiots there made videos saying they will annex the island for themselves via their ‘tech zionism’ approach. They weren’t even coy about it. That’s why they were called out.
Network School rented some shoplots and flats but alluded the world they got an entire island for themselves.
In all their marketing material they kept mentioning Singapore when the thing is in Malaysia.
That sort of thing really pisses people off.
Then they keep saying the island is an abandoned ghost town.
There's an actual school campus for school going kids on the island. A ghost town will not have a school with children. There are residents there.
Then there's been talks coming out of NS about making the island their own nation. Of course that's going to get any Malaysians who heard about it going wtf. Of course that'd get Malaysians scrutinising just what exactly they're doing in those shop lots.
Then the NS founder demanded to meet the Prime minister and meet their demands or else they'll pull out their RM100m (usd25m) investment and that he'd suspend future investments (doesn't matter what the amount is cos anyone can say any number).
Did he think that would collapse Malaysia? It's as if he's not aware that this country has a history tech and innovation for decades already.
Come on man. Respect is mutual.
And the Israeli passport thing? Israel and Malaysia never had diplomatic relationship and so that passport was never recognized and never allowed to enter the country.
I don't know why and how they had a couple of Israelis do social media promotions for them on location. Of course that'd pique the attention of the immigration department.
I hope the rule of law is maintained and due process is followed and things work out between all parties.
Dekat Bali berlambak jenis Balaji tu. Datang tempat low cost, buat group dengan fellow foreigners, buka class konon in the name of self improvement, tiba tiba dia pulak jadi guru yoga, soul healing etc. Charge participants jutaan rupiah. Locals dapat apa? Jadi supir, cuci baju je
30 years ago Malaysia already have global tech players flocking at the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) la brader. Malaysia won’t regret not having a few dozen tech bros who are in-between jobs, spending their time at the gym, faking a lifestyle or pretending to do coding.
@zedadam 100M is Bullshit.
He didn't build anything.
He just rents some space/ blocks of hotels from Forest City, gym, add some chairs, computers, gym equipment, food is from Hotel catering, all paid for by Students Fees USD1500 a month, sort of Staycation/Airbnb w Tech.
A Scammer ! 😡
So this Australian who was a construction worker now has a job as a teacher in Malaysia without any qualafication? How? Which visa is he living here with? How is he teaching without any qualification?
Whua you all only hate migrants workers ya? White fella means you say welcome
The Network School (@ns) drama is all over the Internet
What's really happening?
I'm Malaysian & Irish ~ born and raised in London. Recently moved back to 🇲🇾 for good.
My plan?
To help build Malaysia's AI Builders Hub (@KrackedDevs) ~ upskilling our people, pulling Malaysian builders together, and pushing for Malaysian-made tech products.
Turning Malaysians from consumers into producers.
Here's a thread - a simple breakdown of the NS Drama, from my humble perspective 👇
you’re more racist than the US without the money
you’re more classist than Europe without an upper class
you’re nationalists with no cultural exports
you’re Zionists for free
you look down on your neighbors while being broker than them
you’re third world without good food
