1/2Graduation Ceremony at KWIGIRA TVET โ Rwamagana
Among Rwandaโs non-governmental organizations, there are some that carry out activities that play an important role in the countryโs development and are in line with the actions needed to ensure that Rwanda continues to develop. Umbrella for Vulnerable is one of those organizations that deserves to be an example because of its activities aimed at helping Rwandaโs youth acquire vocational skills, become self-reliant and support themselves.
Educating young people, paying their school fees, and after they complete their studies, providing them with equipment that will help them use the skills they have acquired in their daily lives, all without them paying any money, are important activities in building the future of Rwandaโs youth.
Graduation Ceremony at KWIGIRA TVET
On 02 October 2026, a graduation ceremony was held at KWIGIRA TVET in Rwamagana District to officially mark the completion of Level 12 studies.
A total of 150 students completed their studies, including 107 girls and 43 boys.
The graduates studied different fields, including:
Tailoring: 58 students
Catering: 52 students
Electrical Installation: 40 students
The ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Rwamagana District, Mr. Mbonyumuvunyi Radjabu, Ambassador Sheikh HABIMANA Saleh, and Mr. Nsanzintwali Ayou, the founders of the organization, as well as partners of Umbrella for Vulnerable.
Helping Youth Become Self-Reliant
Umbrella for Vulnerable has established a program to help young people acquire vocational and technical skills, so that they do not only study but are also supported with equipment to start working after completing their studies.
This gives young people opportunities to use the skills they have acquired, create jobs for themselves, meet their daily needs, and contribute to the development of their families and the country in general.
Activities like these also help young people find something productive to do, helping them avoid the use of illicit alcohol and other drugs that can harm their health and their future.
Testimony of UWAMAHORO Jacqueline
One of the students supported by Umbrella for Vulnerable is UWAMAHORO Jacqueline, who completed her studies in tailoring.
She explained that the skills she acquired at KWIGIRA TVET have helped her improve her life, and that she is now able to meet her daily needs through the profession she learned.
Her testimony shows how providing young people with vocational skills and equipment to use those skills can help them move from education to self-reliance and economic independence.
Opportunities for Graduates
The students who completed their studies have many opportunities to use the skills they acquired, especially considering the industrial activities taking place in the Rwamagana Industrial Park, located in Mwulire Sector.
Those who studied tailoring can look for employment opportunities in textile and garment industries, including opportunities such as those available at UTEXRWA.
Those who studied electrical installation can also approach industries and other projects under construction, as they require people with electrical skills.
Those who studied catering also have opportunities to find jobs in different activities related to catering, where they can use the skills they acquired to earn money and improve their lives.
Umbrella for Vulnerable Continues to Expand Its Activities
@Karinganire_Has Supporting young people with practical skills and the tools to use them is a meaningful investment in Rwandaโs future. Congratulations to all 150 graduates of KWIGIRA TVET! ๐๐
Umbrella for Vulnerable continues to contribute to the development of Rwanda. The organization is currently constructing another training center in Munyiginya Sector, Rwamagana District, which will also help Rwandaโs youth receive vocational and technical skills training.
This is an initiative that continues to create more opportunities for young people to acquire practical skills, create jobs for themselves and become self-reliant.
Graduates Receive Equipment to Start Working
The ceremony concluded with the distribution of equipment to the graduates according to the fields they studied, so that they can continue using the skills they acquired.
The 58 tailoring graduates received 58 sewing machines.
The 52 catering graduates received gas cookers and cooking stoves.
The 40 electrical graduates received toolkits to help them carry out electrical work.
This means that the students did not complete their studies with certificates alone; they were also given equipment that will help them start using the professions they have learned.
Rwanda Needs Organizations Carrying Out Activities Like These
In the Rwanda we live in today, we need non-governmental organizations that carry out practical activities that help citizens, especially young people, acquire skills, become self-reliant and support themselves.
Umbrella for Vulnerable deserves to be an example among such organizations, because its activities of educating young people, paying their school fees, providing them with vocational skills and giving them equipment to start working help young people build the capacity to create a better future for themselves.
These are activities that help the country have a young generation with skills, something productive to do, and the ability to contribute to the development of Rwanda.
Empowering youth with skills is empowering the nation. The KWIGIRA TVET graduation demonstrates how vocational training can give young people practical pathways into employment, entrepreneurship and self-reliance while contributing to Rwandaโs development.
@Karinganire_Has Education becomes even more powerful when it creates opportunities for self-reliance. The support given to these graduates is helping turn skills into livelihoods, jobs and stronger communities.
Peace requires commitments to be implemented, not rewritten. If the FDLR remains a security threat, its neutralization must be substantive, comprehensive and verifiable, alongside full implementation of the Washington Agreement.
Security measures at borders should be transparent and clearly defined, especially when they affect people based on where they have travelled. Regional security must protect civilians while respecting their rights.
The key test of the Washington process is implementation: ending cooperation with the FDLR, verifying commitments transparently, and ensuring that agreed obligations are not replaced by separate arrangements with armed groups. Accountability must apply to all sides.
Minembwe civilians should not be left without food, medicine and basic necessities. Reports of restricted access and insecurity require urgent, independent investigation and humanitarian corridors. Civilians must be protected, regardless of ethnicity or political affiliation.
Every young person who gains practical skills gains a stronger chance to build a better future. The work of Umbrella for Vulnerable shows how education, vocational training and tools can help Rwandaโs youth become self-reliant and contribute to development.
Congratulations to the 150 graduates of KWIGIRA TVET! Their journey proves that vocational education can open doors to self-reliance. Supporting young people with skills and equipment is an investment in families, communities and Rwandaโs future.
Skills create opportunities. By supporting young people through vocational education and providing tools after graduation, Umbrella for Vulnerable is helping graduates turn knowledge into work, income and hope for a more productive future.
From the classroom to the workplace: the 150 KWIGIRA TVET graduates now have practical skills they can use to build their livelihoods. Programs that connect education with equipment and real opportunities can help young people become economically independent.
