5 July 1910 | Czech Jewish woman, Stela Ehrlichová, was born.

She was deported to #Auschwitz from #Theresienstadt ghetto on 23 January 1943 with her daughter Aviva. They did not survive.

Romania, an ally of Nazi Germany, took control of Cernǎuţi (Czernowitz) in the Bukovina region of Romania from the Soviets #OTD 5 July 1941.

Leo and Rosika Dankner lived in Cernǎuţi and they had two children: Armand (Nini) and Gertrude (Trudi).

The Dankners were imprisoned in the Cernǎuţi ghetto when it was established in September 1941. They were loaded onto a crowded cattle car in the middle of the night on 28 June 1942 and deported to Transnistria on the last transport that left Cernǎuţi.

#OTD 28 June 1941, Romanian and German soldiers, police and locals participated in the Iasi Pogrom - a massacre of the Jews of Iasi.

Thousands were murdered on the streets and within their own homes. Thousands more were arrested and taken to the police headquarters. The next day, Romanian soldiers shot thousands of Jews who had been held in the police headquarters yard. The approximately 4,300 survivors of the massacre and other Jews who had been rounded up from all parts of Iasi, were loaded onto sealed boxcars and deported. Some 2,600 perished en route due to thirst and suffocation.

Gibt es zu Hitler eigentlich noch etwas Neues? Tatsächlich. Der Berlin Story Verlag hat mit vier Bänden und 2432 Seiten das umfangreichste Buch zu Hitler herausgegeben. Harald Sandner hat mehr als 25 Jahre daran gearbeitet. Sandners Hitler-Itinerar wurde zum Standardwerk für Historiker. Es geht nicht ohne. Jede der acht Auflagen wurde ergänzt, da Historiker und Lokalforscher noch etwas beizutragen hatten. Es beschreibt Hitlers Leben von der Geburt bis zum Tod im Führerbunker und enthält Informationen darüber, wo er sich aufgehalten hat und mit wem er über was gesprochen hat. Es geht sogar noch weiter: Hitler wurde von den Sowjets zehnmal verbuddelt und wieder ausgegraben, endgültig erst am 5. April 1970 (kein Schreibfehler).

From May-July 1944, 438,000 Hungarian Jews were deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau, where most of them were gassed immediately upon arrival.

14 June 1940 | The Germans transferred a group of 728 Polish men from the prison in Tarnów to the newly established Auschwitz concentration camp. The group included soldiers of the September campaign, members of independence underground organisations, school pupils and students, and a small group of Polish Jews.

They were given numbers from 31 to 758. This event is considered to be the beginning of the operation of this German Nazi concentration camp that less than two years later was transformed and also became an extermination camp.

Of the 728 deported prisoners deported on 14 June 1940, 325 survived the war, 292 perished, while the fate of 111 is unknown to date.

223 registration photographs of them are preserved in the Archives of the Auschwitz Memorial. In the video below, you can see all of them.
