@doggythunder2 They were the one Seattle/grunge band that I always strongly disliked. Some pretty good songs, objectively, but I always found them really viscerally off-putting.
@now_thats_oscar People who remember it are solidly in their 40s. The franchise just isnt particularly beloved. Typical relationship to it is "hey remember that" not "that was so cool." It's also goofy and sort of embarrassing. Would have had to have been something special beyond name recognition
@podcastnotes@JamesonCamp Like so many things the wealthy do, the yachts are about networking. Having one of those puts you in a social circle and facilitates connections that just wouldn't be accessible any other way.
@anymanfitness Dude in the pic went from fat (not great) to high-stress starvation mode (worse). Your body interprets sudden, dramatic fat loss in middle-age as famine event and adjusts everything to keep you alive. Metabolism craters, aging accelerates.
@TheCinesthetic 1) Enough time passed for people to get nostalgic about them.
2) They're not good, but at least they're kind of unique and memorable. Sequel trilogy showed how much worse it could get (empty, soulless product.)
@tippity It's the same for movies and music, too tbh. There's already more great examples of these forms than you'd ever have time to experience and the new ones are not nearly as good.
@MugenLord I've been playing this the last few days (there's a fan translation.) Really enjoying it...amazing vibes and the racing itself is actually pretty fun.
