@ocdrecovery I wince when I hear of sufferers being asked to 'measure' and record their feelings on a daily basis - this is just helping to keep them in the anxiety state!
@ocdrecovery 'Thoughts are thoughts' means nothing, really it is just stating a basic fact. A full explanantion of WHY the thoughts are there and why they seem so convincing is required.
@hatttiegladwell Your 'what if' alerts your nervous system to a perceived threat, the resulting nervous reaction falsely confirms your what if is valid and so you act accordingly, this is what OCD is.
@ocdrecovery There is a widely held belief that people are 'damaged' by past trauma and their current suffering is caused directly by it. As you say, it is the fear that you have been damaged by the trauma that causes the suffering, IMHO
@MoTomkins@ocdrecovery A wee bit of advice: Let them be there, let them be as bad as they want, time and time and time again. They are ONLY there cause you fear your reaction to them.
