If you play a lot of Chinese gacha and speak at least a little Chinese, you would probably already know the CN version of these games frequently use classical literary language, poetry, and culturally loaded idioms instead of blunt phrases. These can create layered meanings that are more hard hitting or intimate to native speakers than the softened English 'translation'.

Whether you like it or not, Wuwa has a track record of writing female characters with romantic (or quasi-romantic, if you don't want to feel generous) attachment to the Rover. You are in denial if you think Wuwa is not a gacha game with a self-insert protagonist that has Chinese literatures inspiration.

Kuro knows exactly what a large portion of the audience wants and the writing is doing what it's designed to do. They have done market research and have picked their niche.

I want to this to be clear, Wuwa being an ML game doesn't mean it can't be great. It certainly is a great game, you know it yourself. Certain people often think those two are mutually exclusive.

These past few days has been fulfilling for me because it absolutely, totally confirmed the assumption I held for the past year: People who claimed to be 'wuwa fans' aren't actually fans at all. Because how come we are fans of the same game, yet we have separate interpretations of the story that aren't remotely close?

One of us must have played the game while blindfolded and earmuffed (Impressive if you are doing holograms).

How do you even live in the false reality that Wuthering Waves by Kuro Games is not a Master Love harem game with story writing that is actively hostile to people that prefer character-to-character shipping? Accept that you are not the main target audience for it.

Don't force yourself to enjoy something that you don't actually like, just because many people genuinely love it.

This trend isn't exclusive to Wuwa, unfortunately. Other communities use the 'Our game is not actually about [X], the writing is way deeper than that' excuse and why did you even say that? Yes, in certain cases, the writing is in fact deeper than that. But, at the end of the day, you are playing a gacha game. You are not going to impress normies. Haters are still going to hate your game, you are not changing their belief.

So why not embrace the game for what it actually is and enjoy it? You do not need to justify yourself.
