Since leaving Nigeria in 2022, festive seasons and birthdays have always felt a little incomplete without my parents. Now they’re finally here with my siblings and me, and my heart is so full 🥹 God really answered one of my biggest prayers. My 2026 testimony tbh.
made my dad avocado toast on sourdough just now, his first time having it. he said ‘this is why it’s good to have a daughter. they know good things’ LOOOOOOL
While growing up, we watched our mum do omugwo for so many people, from relatives to people who were not related to us at all. Women who had no one to help them after putting to bed would come to my mum, and she did it happily.
Sometimes before 7am she had already left the house to bathe the child, and by evening she was out again. She did this for so many people that we used to tease her and call her “mama of everyone.” Little did I know then that she was planting seeds.
When I had my daughter outside Nigeria, my mum had planned to be with me, but my baby arrived two weeks before my EDD. Even though she could not be physically present with me during labour, God came through for her by making the delivery smooth and easy.
After delivery, my husband and I left the hospital with our little one, unsure of where to even start, just the two of us in a country where everyone minds their own business. But God raised people. People showed up. I had food in abundance, food I did not even cook. God brought an elderly mummy who cared for my daughter like her own grandchild, day and night. We were never stranded, not even for a moment, until my parents finally arrived.
My mum was deeply moved by the love and support we received before their arrival, and she said to me, “I knew you would not be stranded.”
Here’s the thing: the seeds of good we plant may not speak immediately. It might be our children, or even our grandchildren, who will reap them.
So keep doing good. Keep sowing seeds of hope. You never know when or how your seed will spring forth.
Copied.
Absolutely. The anticipation of the cold water is always worse than the swim itself. The only cure for the anxiety of the 'hard thing' is the action of doing it. We often wait for courage to arrive before we act. But in reality, courage is the prize you get after you do the thing you were afraid to do
Someone asked “If you knew your plane was going to crash, would you still get on it just because the ticket was expensive?” I love how this shows that just because you’ve invested time, energy & money doesn’t mean you need to stay in a doomed relationship. Please learn to let go.
One season David was a shepherd, the next season he was king. One season Ruth was working in a field, the next season she owned that same field.
One season Mordecai was sitting outside the kings palace, next he was in the palace. We serve a God who turns things around, trust Him.
I remember when I was very young—once we made our Christmas hair, my mum would use a hair net to cover it until we unveiled it on Christmas Day 😂😂.
Nostalgia mehnnn 😭🥹
