@conservmillen "Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but deceitful are the kisses of an enemy." Proverbs 27:6
I think of these words when the topic of untruthful empathy comes up.
@DeixebleC@shaunhurrie@HwsEleutheroi@ShaneSchaetzel My point is that the concept is not part of biblical faith, but rather dabbled into what God says is abhorrent. Again, they were not "honoring" Joseph's bones, but only his wishes.
I don’t know what mother needs to hear this, but you can actually give your burdens and pain to God before video taping yourself having a mental breakdown.
“Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7
@DeixebleC@shaunhurrie@HwsEleutheroi@ShaneSchaetzel "Venerating" Joseph is not even in the vocabulary of Hebrews 11:22. But rather "faith" in God's promises. He gave directions concerning his final resting place because God promised the exodus and return to the promised land.
@HwsEleutheroi@ShaneSchaetzel Let's bring in the prophets of the Old Testament and their opinion about what "real worship" looks like! Or God Himself, for that matter. Nadal and Abihu would have a word. And Phinehas the son of Eleazar would most definitely have his jealousy restoked
@swamthetiber25 Do you agree with Athanasius? "Sacrificial" atonement? Reconciling man to God is part of what is accomplished by the cross, not the whole of it.
@mdvirgilio@solagratiafide What basis do you have to support a pre-70 writing of Revelation, and his epistles, for that matter? Nero's persecution was only in Rome, btw
@mdvirgilio@OllamFodhla No it's not a stretch at all. When he says "have heard...is coming" that is an eschatalogical statement in the simplest sense. Does "the man of lawlessness" count in your system as the antichrist? That same one who will appear and be killed at Jesus 2nd coming? 2 Thess 2:3, 8
@ChristandGuitar You overlooked the "then at his coming..." in verse 23. You are putting everything after v. 23, before v. 23 chronologically. That's a mistake.
@JamesDueck First NT book author: James the half brother of Jesus. 2nd book author: Paul writing to the Galatians. These can be reasonably determined without needing a group of priests centuries later making an "official" statement.
@JamesDueck What if said "leadership structure" if there was one, went apostate? Jesus would put that lamp out before a generation passes. And he would expect faithful believers to separate from that corrupt system.
