Well 1,061 certainly didn’t stay ‘a little back’. That’s the number of non-American NATO troops who were killed in support of US actions in Afghanistan.
He really is ungracious, ignorant and uncaring on such matters. Especially unbecoming from someone who managed to avoid military service himself.
In my ten years at our school, we’ve never had a better start to a term or felt the school in a better place. The years of hard work and change have paid off - the place is singing and I feel immensely proud.
But the level of hard work, resilience and commitment it’s taken to reach this point - and more importantly, to sustain it - in an era of massively increased SEN needs, insufficient provision and reduced funding, simply isn’t realistic.
We’ll always give everything for our children and families - it’s what we do. But schools can’t keep running on goodwill alone. We need more funding. The effort is huge, the responsibility is real and the cost to staff and leaders has never been higher.
I know I'm not alone in thinking this.
Seeing a great deal of what Boris Johnson has suggested in my timeline, the idea that Kirk represented mainstream opinion/common sense.
His murder is appalling. But this is nonsense.
Some of his views
-Profoundly conservative on gay rights. Didn’t believe in gay marriage. Said being gay was an “error” and compared to drug addiction.
- didn’t believe in abortion in almost any circumstances.
-called for a ban on all trans gender affirming care.
-he spread falsehoods about voter fraud, Covid and other conspiracy theories.
-suggested he opposed birth control and had very traditional views on women and how they should live their lives.
-claimed the Great Replacement Theory was UK government policy.
None of this could ever justify any violence. It is a matter of fact that his views were nowhere near mainstream. He clearly relished debate and was very influential. But in some cases, in many cases, his views were extreme.
Potential biosignature on Mars: confirmed. ✔️
After a year of scientific review, we are more sure than ever that our Mars Perseverance's 'Sapphire Canyon' sample could contain signs of ancient microbial life. Learn more about the discovery: https://t.co/RMO2UFfnjv
This is exactly the kind of despicable scaremongering that @DrAseemMalhotra has made his modus operandi. Insinuations, hearsay, anti-vaxx, non-evidence-based, lurid, self-enriching, anti-scientific claptrap. Of course @reformparty_uk lapped it up.
Please know that there isn’t a shred of scientific evidence suggesting Covid vaccines cause cancer.
Please disregard this man’s rubbish - he doesn’t work for the NHS & why the GMC hasn’t struck him off long ago baffles innumerable NHS doctors like me.
Please, if you are worried about vaccines, chat to an NHS doctor or look on the NHS website for excellent, evidence-based info.
Shame on you, Aseem Malhotra.
Shame on you.
A quick reminder : From heating stables at public expense to deleting What’s App messages which he had denied existed to a million pound plus penalty for carelessly avoiding £3.7m of tax - ex Chancellor Nadhim Zahawi’s missteps.
You are a disgrace.
Connelly pleaded guilty was sentenced by the Rec of Birmingham & her appeal against sentence was dismissed by the Ct of Appeal.
You’re meant to be a Conservative - who upholds our independent judiciary & believes in law & order.
You’re none of these things - you’re just fishing for votes in the bottom of the pond.
Shameful utterly shameful
@LozzaFox Bless you. Understand that it must be so hard to feel those finely tuned instincts gained on your time in Lewis going to waste but maybe leave it to the grownups?
Strongly recommend @louistheroux film on Israeli Settlers. He tackles complex subject with clarity and empathy. Left at the end wondering how on earth there can ever be reconciliation. But as Bronagh Hinds said on recent @haaretzcom podcast, people used to say the same re NI
Louis Theroux’s “The Settlers” (2025) — full documentary.
This is a must-watch to understand how Israel was built, the people that come from all over the world to take land and what is currently happening due to its expansionist mentality.
Here is a recap of the Ukraine situation, for those choosing to reject propaganda and continue seeking truth:
December 1994, Ukraine agrees to give up its nuclear arsenal in return for security guarantees from the US, UK, France, China and Russia.
February 2014, Russia invades and subsequently annexes Crimea, President Obama does next to nothing. War through weakness.
July 2019, Trump admin withholds $250 million in military aid to Ukraine to apply pressure to investigate alleged corruption by Hunter and Joe Biden.
February 2022, Russia invades a weakened Ukraine, world expects Zelenskyy to flee and Kyiv to fall within days. Ukrainians fight bravely for 3+ years, inflict hundreds of thousands of casualties on Russian army, weaken Putin politically.
U.S. has sent ~$70 billion in outdated military equipment to Ukraine since start of war, providing opportunity for U.S. military to modernize its weaponry. We’ve sent an additional $30+ billion in budget support, $75 billion in ancillary appropriations related to war.
~50,000 Ukrainians have died defending their homeland, protecting U.S. and Western interests in the process. Meanwhile, the U.S. President and V.P. are calling democratically-elected Zelenskyy a dictator and berating him in Oval Office in pursuit of a financial payoff.
The U.S. should be thanking Ukrainians, who have fought for our common interests with only modest financial support from a country with a ~$30 trillion GDP.
America can and will reclaim its backbone again soon, with better policy and messaging from common sense moderates.
Slava Ukraina.
